LAKEHURST, N.J. - Officials locked down the Naval Air Engineering Center in Lakehurst, N.J., on Monday, resulting in traffic being blocked from entering or leaving the base.

Media Relations Coordinator Senior Airman David Carbajal said there were several incidents they he could not provide any more information about.

Carbajal said no shots were fired on the center, which was where the airship Hindenberg exploded in 1937.

Interesting to me that they are saying no shots were fired, but that there are "several incidents".

Ok, seems a couple of odd, but not dangerous incidents:

Sources tell Action News that base officials are investigating two separate incidents.

One of the incidents involved an armed FedEx driver who went to the wrong gate on the base for deliveries. Officials believe there was no threatening intent on his part. He simply went to wrong gate and was armed with a weapon.

In a separate incident, authorities have detained an individual found in the woods adjacent to the base. The person was detained after gunshots were heard in the vicinity. No weapon has been recovered and the investigation continues.

I can kind of understand it if he was delivering in a rough neighbourhood. Not to a naval base though.

They don't tell us a thing here on McGuire, just email saying the gates were closed, later opened but they had Lakehurst closed for about 3 hours longer...least I was able to go to lunch, lol
