ANDOVER, Ohio — An employee opened fire at an auto supplies plant Tuesday, killing at least one person before he was killed, authorities said.
The shootings happened about 8:20 a.m. at Andover Industries in the northeast Ohio village, Ashtabula County Sheriff Bill Johnson said.
The gunman was a plant employee who has worked there about five years, he said.
Ashtabula County coroner's office spokeswoman Fran Richards said two people were dead, including the shooter. She didn't know whether he killed himself or was killed by someone else.
Two women from the plant were taken to St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Youngstown. One was in surgery and doctors were working on the other patient, said hospital spokeswoman Patty Rush. She didn't immediately know if their injuries were life-threatening.
Andover Industries spokeswoman Katy Lominack did not immediately return a message left at the company's headquarters in Troy, Mich. Phones went unanswered at the Andover plant about 80 miles northeast of Cleveland.

That's the one aspect of my dad's job that scares me to death....he's a security supervisor at a large lightning distribution center in south metro Atlanta.
In that security guard booth at the main gate, he'll be the first person any irate or homicidal ex-employee will see when approaching the facility :o :o

While many folks think they want the boss's job, I can tell you I am always concerned about our employees, their personal situations, and the safety and security of everyone in the plant, including me. I am especially aware when a firing takes place...since we can never really predict the state of mind of an employee with nothing to lose.
As crazy as people can sometimes get, their impulses can take them to places they would never go otherwise.
Sad that some good people go bad....and for what?
