Four employees at a YMCA office were hurt today when a parking attendant attacked them with a machete, Houston police said.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. at the YMCA International Service office at 6300 Westpark. Police were told a man wielding a machete was fighting with the staff, and at least one person had been stabbed.

The man with the machete was arrested, police said. Two of the victims were taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where one was listed in critical condition, while the other was in fair condition, hospital officials said. It was not immediately known where the other two victims were taken.

It is not known what prompted the attack. No further information was available this afternoon.

The axiom that "Bad news IS news" sickens me...we rarely hear anything good, or positive at all about the 99.8% of people who are going about their business, helping others, etc., etc.

But, wield a machete/gun/knife/AK-47/M-16/bomb/whatever, and you are "guaranteed" first-page, bold-type coverage. :grrr:

Duck... I heard about an accident that happened at a hospital in Houston involving an elevator. I heard the man stepped in and the doors shut resulting in decapitation. There was a woman who got trapped in there and had to be treated for shock. Hear about it?

Yup, posted about it on the thread "Fairground Horror." Wasn't quite the same as the amusement park accident, but equally as shocking and tragic.

I also heard that a lady was walking barefoot in the rain in Las Vegas. She stepped on an underground signal and was electrocuted. She died a short time later. Talk about a freak accident!!!
