Trick to rid yourself of the SoBig.f virus e-mail

#1 Postby weatherlover427 » Tue Aug 26, 2003 5:39 pm

Hi everyone,

I learned a trick today that will rid your e-mail inbox of the SoBig.F virus-infected e-mail before it has a chance to infect your hard drive. Here is what you have to do:

1) While in your inbox, select a DIFFERENT e-mail than the virus one and hit Ctrl + A.

2) Delete all e-mails in your inbox if you can afford to do so. (I recommend it because you do not want to risk getting the virus. :? )

3) Delete the e-mails off of your deleted items folder and curse the virus sender as much as you like.

I recieved a very strange email today...from some museum in Florida...claiming an email I sent them was infected with a virus and so was my computer...

There's only two problems....

1) I've never emailed them
2) I don't own a computer...and WebTV is immune to viruses..totally
I spoke with WebTV customer service and they reinterated what my online help guide said: Webtv has no hard drive to infect, and the browser is unable to download any type of attachments...there's no way a virus or worm can execute -- because my unit can't even recieve it..

All I have is a modem in a box with blinking lights.
My websites were on free MSN/ Webtv storage....any image I grab into my scrapbook goes into WebTV storage...because I can't store or download anything.

I've had email in my box that is supposedly from tropics@wrel.com. The subject line is Re: That Movie. Knew right away not to open it.

The SoBig virus takes an infected users address book and uses two names from it for the TO and the From on the e-mails it sends out. That way if you're in someone's address book it may pick your name as the TO: . Since people see an e-mail from someone they may know it's more likely they open the e-mail.... I hop ethey track these people down and just shoot them. Since this startd last week I've gotten over 600 of these damn e-mails. It takes forever to just clean up my In-Box :grrr:

For two days in a row, now, suddenly, my e-mail
account on Yahoo, only posted at S2k, btw, has been inundated with 50+ bulk e-mails, garbage-
kind-of titles, noone I know. It shows my e-mail
account at "critical", beyond the mgs allowed, and,
I just immediately delete them, making all well
with Yahoo. This is occuring in the past few days.
So, if some of ya'll that I normally e-mail are
going to bulk mail, sorry - we can correspond when
this thing has run it's course!
