When Winter rolls around,

#1 Postby Constructionwx » Wed Oct 01, 2003 7:01 pm

When Winter rolls around,

What will our designations be? For instance, I'm a tropical storm.

I just can't remember if it changed last winter.

If so, I'd be Freezing Rain

Any Ideas?

I don't think that it changed last winter either.

I think it's easier to "measure" the posts using the Tropical Depression, Storm and the 5 Categories of the Hurricane levels. I can't think of any other weather related measurement except for tornados. Besides, I think that it may be alot of work for the Admins to change back and forth for the seasons, plus it may be confusing as well.

Just my 2 cents! :)

Storm2K started out as a "Tropical Weather Forum." I think it would be appropriate that the "Tropical Wave," "Tropical Low," "Tropical Depression," "Tropical Storm" and the "5 Categories of the Hurricane levels" remain. :)

I think it's cool to stick with the tropical stuff. But if we did winter rankings, here's one way I guess the order could be:

Drizzle
Rain
Freezing Rain
Sleet
Ice
Flurries
White-out
Blizzard

Nice ideas. But to keep it all wintry weather, how about these?

1. Freezing Drizzle
2. Flurries
3. Snow Squall
4. Moderate Ice Storm
5. Moderate Snow Storm
6. Major Ice storm
7. Major Snow Storm
8. Historic Blizzard

Even better!

I wasn't really sure how to rank them. The only way we ranked it when I was younger was "school is open" or "snow day!!!!!!!" :)

Same way with Topeka Schools now adays..... "Open" or "Closed".... 99.8% of school year is "Open", meaning we get 0-2 snow days.

No snow days here in FL, unfortunately. Being a school crossing guard I am out in all kinds of weather here. I do have a raincoat when it rains but I still get soaked from the knees down, shoes included.
