Last year my office threw a masquerade ball for halloween. LOTS of fun. first time in year I got to dress up- went as a fairy... had fully functional 6ft wings that my technically inclined husband spent months playing with *grins*

I prefer focusing on my kids - what they'll do or if they'll go out that night. We however receive one party invite each year. The host/hostess put such an importance if you go or skip this party. I haven't been into costumes for myself since I was a kid! Don't ask me why.....just not my thing. So you can't even show up at this party w/o a costume - how lame. 2 years ago it was in a wedding reception hall, you were sitting next to people you don't know. Can you tell we just dread this invite each year? LOL The host gives it with his other siblings so we end up knowing a handful of people. But you have to make an appearance.....you just have to come. Ugh. This year I'm hoping my kids have another conflict (a party of their own to go to somewhere). I know, I'm a party pooper when it comes to this stuff......just never was my thing.

I am a Halloween party pooper. I am just not really into Halloween. Some neighborhood kids decided to vandalize my neighborhood a few years back on Halloween, including destroying some outdoor decorations and stealing the jack-o-lantern off of my front door step. Ever since then, I don't even bother to decorate for Halloween and really don't get into the spirit. I much prefer Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am not a "Halloween fan" either. I went across the street, [diagonally to the left] to a neighborhood "Halloween Party," it was just a get together for the neighbors with a Halloween theme. I am not interested in "dress parties" at all.

Not sure what my parents and I are doing this Halloween.

I haven't been to one in ages. I'm not that creative and/or confident to come up with a costume that I will feel comfortable in. If someone else suggests something, that's a different story!

I love handing out the candy to the kids that come by though.

I've entered a new Halloween Party phase...that of being the chaporone for all the friends of my children (ages 13, 10 and 7). It's still alot of fun .
I continue to dress up ( as a mother and school nurse I figure I can live vicariously through the children; besides you can still have fun when your a grown up!). Life is what you make of it.

Since I last replied here, we've given our 13 year old permission to have a Halloween Trick or Treating Sleepover! Yes, call me crazy.....actually, I'm okay with it. She was having trouble talking girls into going out with her so I said organize an evening with your friends. Pizza at 5 p.m., followed by T or T from 6 - 8 p.m., hanging out until 10, suddenly went to "how about a sleepover Mom?" How can you say no? It's on a Friday, no excuse there. Church services can't even get in the way......wish me luck!! I'm gonna need it..... Think I should stock up on Peptobismal? LOL I did tell her their evening won't be all junk and candy. Think I'll be able to talk them into a few carrot stix? :-)

Ahh, you only live once. I can send all these girls home with stomach aches......I know they'll be pigging out on junk.

Costumes are not my thing...although I've been known to wear wigs and big glasses and hats and wax lips from time to time.

Not sure what the hot costumes might be this year. Was a lot more fun for adult Halloween parties when Bill Clinton was in office. After all, you could dress up as Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp, or a host of other cartoon characters.

I suppose you could go as "Ahnold Schwartzenneger" this year and draw a laugh or two.

Who else might be hot stuff for costumes this year...maybe Cat in the Hat? Or another cartoon character, Rush Limbaugh!

Even Janet Reno is no longer in as a costume...

I will say this though - the parties I've been obligated to go (see first reply here) had guests with crazy costumes. No normal ones! I joked I'd go, if I must attend this party again this year, as a Cincinnati Red player or owner, with play money stapled/pinned all over my daughter's team jersey. Since of course our team had a fire sale over the summer. We now have a ball club with lots of money, very few decent players. All young, many fresh up from the farm teams. My family thought this get-up was a bit odd.....so I'm hoping to come up with a great excuse to skip it! :-)
