I can relate Bill, we only have one "family" machine, and between the kids and their online games, and the better half pursuing on line offers, it gets rather junk laden.

YOU CAN HAVE BOTH! adaware creates backups of things it's deletes for recovery if necessary. spybot will skim the recovery folder and may interpret the backup files as being malicious. if this is in reference to the little prompt before you run spybot, just click [ok], it's no big deal... p

(if you do opt for one, keep adaware. those pesky gator installs making for mysterious pop up's such as what occurs most frequently on our work pc is what it is great for removing. spyware is less frequent but i like to run it once a week (on the public work pc) just to be safe. so far so good so maybe at least a single run through on spybot before uninstalling is a good suggestion.)

As for Ad-Aware, I run it every few days and it has apparently been doing it's job.

sorry it hung for you. as said above, spybot is good for emergency situations but one used less frequent. p

All it means is that when it searches your system it might pick up on the Adaware files that tell Adaware what to look for. Not to worry - I've never had a problem. Just click ok and proceed.

sorry to be redundant in my reply above, in skimming, i overlooked your suggestion. p
