ORANGE, Texas – Two 16-year-olds accused of plotting a massacre at Vidor High School will spend the Thanksgiving holidays in juvenile detention.
The students -- a boy and a girl -- today waived a detention hearing in the case in an Orange County court. That means they'll remain in separate Southeast Texas detention centers for 15 more days.
Prosecutors will deliberate whether to try the pair as juveniles or adults.
The two are charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder, conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
Vidor school police on November 10th uncovered an alleged plot to shoot more than 20 students and four administrators.
Nobody was hurt, and the two students were immediately taken into custody. Three others were expelled, but prosecutors said they won't be charged.
No freedom for teens named in high school plot

You do the crime, you do the time! What is with it with some of these kids? Is it a problem with the parents, the media (music, movies, and, yes, even the news), or the schools? When these plots or the incidents take place, I get down about society.
These kids deserve to be locked up, and some severe counseling/psychological work has to be done.
What is this world coming to? I hope eventually better things...wishful thinking!

It's hard to believe this happened right here, just 5 minutes from Beaumont!! Goes to show you that it could happen anywhere because nobody would have expected it here. Just thank GOD they uncovered the plot before it was carried out. Such a shame that nobody paid attention to the warnings before Columbine.

While I totally agree they need at the very least some serious conseling- they didn't ~do~ the crime... and the line between intent and deed is a very thin line to walk- prosecutors will have a difficult time putting them in jail for any length of time if the kids get a decent defence lawyer- not impossible- just difficult. I feel for the poor lawyers *Laughs*
I'm glad this was caught before anything bad hppened!

Very serious charges indeed. I am glad the plot was uncovered before they actually pulled it off.
Intent is associated with doing the deed. The crime here IS the INTENT, regardless of whether it was actually pulled off. There was enough evidence to charge those two in the first place. Has to be some type of proof.
