Help! Cookie Press Recipe needed!

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Wed Dec 17, 2003 10:35 am

I'm looking for an old Mirro Cookie Press cookie recipe:

Holly Wreaths

or

Cream Cheese Holly Wreaths

You use the star disc and create xmas wreaths. Cream Cheese replaces the need for butter. They're so good!!!

If anyone has this recipe, I'd appreciate you posting it. I've lost mine.

Miss Mary this is what I found. I did a search on Mirro Cookie Press Holly Wreath Recipe and this came up - has the cream cheese in it.....

Cream Cheese Spritz Cookies
This recipe was in my mirro recipe booklet.
1 cup shortening
1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. grated orange rind
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Cream shortening, cream cheese and sugar
well. Beat in egg yolk, vanilla and grated
orange rind. Gradually blend in flour, salt
and cinnamon which have been sifted together.
Fill mirro cookie press. Form cookies on
ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 350 degrees
for 12- 15 minutes. Remove at once to
cooling racks. Yields: 6-7 dozen cookies

Patricia - that's very close to what I used to have I think. Don't remember adding cinnamon though. I'll sure try it. The cream cheese makes the cookies very soft, and sweet.

Thanks!

Patricia - tried this recipe using shortening and it clogged up my cookie press. I had to add milk to make it more pliable. That worked.

I've decided to substitute butter for shortening in any recipe. Years ago I didn't think twice about using Crisco. Now I'll look at that stuff and think - no wonder people's arteries are clogged up. I know butter does the same thing, but at xmas time butter is the best choice. It just tastes better.
