Halloween trick leads to arrest

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Fri Jan 02, 2004 12:28 pm

I know this is an old story, but here goes:

ANN ARBOR, Mich — A candy dispute led to trick-or-treat rage, according to police.

A 49-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was arrested on Halloween for allegedly lobbing pumpkins at the home of a woman who did not give candy to his trick-or-treating son.

The boy, about 5 years old, reportedly went to the home of a 79-year-old woman who was doling out sweets to trick-or-treaters. But the boy returned to his father crying, claiming the woman did not give him any candy, according to the police report.

The father allegedly went to the house and confronted the woman, who reportedly denied withholding candy from his son. The father and son left, only to return moments later.

This time, the father reportedly handed the homeowner a slip of paper bearing his address and told her to call the police, according to authorities. The peeved parent then lobbed a small pumpkin through the woman's front window, tossed a second pumpkin at the front door, and smashed a standing bird feeder.

A neighbor reportedly yelled at the father to stop, putting an end to the candy-fueled furor, police said.

The man took his son and went home where he was arrested. He was charged with malicious destruction of property and released on his own recognizance.
