Man! that sux :( ---I used to watch that show all the time and liked it when they dropped the ping pong balls on the captain. Mr Green Jeans was cool too. Dang-we only had CBS, PBS, and NBC back then-and the old staticy radar that flashed and had phone line interference all over the screen-the wxman still used Markers--was good ol days indeed.

Very sad. I loved that show. I would like to get dvd's just to let the kids see it. I'd probably watch them too. :) was a sad day when the show was cancelled.

I'll never forget Moose and the ping pong balls and how the Capt. would fall for it ever time. I would love to have old clips of that show also.

RIP good Capt. You will never be forgotten.

I never watched them, but WCVB-TV 5 in Boston (ABC) used to broadcast
re-runs of "Captain Kangaroo" in the 1980's on Saturday mornings at 5:00 am.

If memory serves, he was "immortalized" in an early 60's "rock-a-billy" song...

Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire 'til dawn
With a deck of 51
Smoking cigarettes and watchin'
Captain Kangaroo
Now, don't tell me
I've nothing to do...

And, of course I watched his show...I was almost four when it first aired. :)
