Funny you should mention that deb!

I just got a similiar message from "ebay." It sounded like ebay wanted to update my information because of "recent unauthorized attempts to access" my account. It sounded very real and I fell for it. (kicking self in butt) Fortunately, all it asked for is my email password. I don't use credit cards or pay pal, so my exposure is limited. Tomorrow, I'll contact my ISP and get my password changed. I forwarded the email to ebay and they replied that this is from "bad guys" and they are investigating.

In their reply, ebay confirmed that they don't ever ask for personal information by email and I should have known better. I copied the email in below but deleted the link so that no one will go there:

Dear customer,

Due to recent activity, including possible unauthorized login attempts
on your account, we will suspend activity on your account in order to
allow us to investigate this matter further. If you believe that this
action may have been taken in error, or, if you feel that your account
may have been tampered with, please follow the link bellow and
provide us additional information about your account in order to
verify that you are the authorized account holder.

Click on the link and follow the instructions .This URL is secured.

If you received this notice and you are not the authorized account
holder, please be aware that it is in violation of eBay policy to represent
oneself as another eBay user. Such action may also be in violation of
local, national, and/or international law. eBay is committed to assist
law enforcement with any inquires related to attempts to misappropriate

Information will be provided at the request of law enforcement agencies to
ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

ebay or paypal will NEVERe-mail you for information. That is their policy and they stick to it. If they need something updated, they will let you know whe you login to your account there.

I received that same email Friday. These people need to be hunted down and brought up on charges. That includes all those idiots that send out viruses, trojans and spyware.

Once again, I agree with you Linda. This really has to stop, its becoming too frequent ....lol :lol:

LOL blizzard.

Fortunately my firewall denied the email. I started a thread about it. Trojan name was EXPLOIT-URLSpoof.gen. This bad boy can do you some damage by creating a bogus website which then gets your personal info. Citibank customers have been affected the most by this trojan.

Amen to getting them and hanging them. They need to be punished to the full extent of the law.

Thanks for the heads up... Im a ebayaholic and only ever use pay-pal to trade.. So I shall keep a beady eye out.

I got my password changed w/my ISP. Seems that no harm *((*^) I NOW CONTROL YOUR COMPUTER YOU ARE HELPLESS TO RESIST ME.&(*)*^^%^&* was done.
