:x :(

The phone rang about 30 minutes ago..but in a weird way. Sorta " Studdered"..lol. Anyway, when I picked it up, it was one of those operator voices, and it said " The line was clear, but is now busy. We will notify you when the line becomes clear."....well...the phone has kept on rigning, with the operator voice saying the EXACT SAME THING....for at least the last 30 minutes. We dialed *69 to see who was calling...and called that number. Only to hear " This number is not in service. " It's so anoyying! I hope it stops soon...

Sounds like you're stuck in some sort of crossed-wires, circuit-switching, busy-signal hell.

Automated dialing systems and redialers (like those used by telemarketers) use something that acts like that -- it keeps dialing the number without the caller having to be on the line. When the data coming through tells it that the line is clear, it rings it through to the caller (telemarketer) first and then rings on your (the receiver) side. Although sometimes, it doesn't work that way and you answer your phone, only to be greeted with a recording saying, "Please hold...we have an important call for you" or something of that nature, which I always hang up on.

Do you want to give your # to one of us so we can call you and perhaps the incoming call would break the cycle? OR, we could call the operator and see if she can break in on the "call" and get it to stop. OR we can call your phone company (since you can't get an outgoing call out) and tell them to get their crap together and fix your line.

Anything we can do to stop the madness. :)
