Britain, U.S. offer U.N. amendments

#1 Postby bfez1 » Wed Mar 12, 2003 3:18 pm

UNITED NATIONS, March 12 U.S. and British diplomats on Wednesday were fine-tuning new amendments to their U.N. resolution on Iraq in another attempt to nail down the nine votes needed for approval in the Security Council. With the U.S.-imposed deadline for a vote early this week slipping away, Britain hopes that new benchmarks for disarmament, including a televised appearance by President Saddam Hussein to renounce weapons of mass destruction, will sway nations unwilling to back the March 17 ultimatum of the current draft.

the russians like this new delay. what will happen? each delay will let saddam off the hook. he will partially comply and then there will be more vacillation, more delay, more stalling, and more resolutions and last chances. i thought bush said awhile back saddam already had his last chance. all this is is a way for britain to get out of the war and for saddam to stay in power. walk away from the un mr bush
