Oh John, forgive me for not seeing this topic before now. I really feel for you. You've been given wonderful advice here, from Steve, Karan to Dennis. And so many others - others that obviously care very much about you. Take comfort in that right now. My own mother can say some hurtful things and the way I handle them is to just pretend what she said was a true compliment. I even thank her - oh that's so nice of you to say, thank you very much Mom. Or I repeat what she just said - something trivial like - you're still breaking out with acne at your age! (true, adult acne, ugh). A minor insensitive comment just the same, but add them all up and they hurt. Repeating an absurd or negative comment, actually puts the focus back on the other person. When they hear what they just said, sometimes they regret it. What you're going thru right now is extreme. I can see that. What I advise my own daughters about hurtful situations is that they can't change others or control what others say or think about them. What they can control is how they react. So I'd suggest to you is look yourself in the mirror, stand up tall, repeat to yourself - I'm a very good person, a loving caring son and sibling and I'll get thru the best way I can. I doubt if that's the greatest advice but lean on all of us right now to help you out too.

And lastly, bake those brownies!!! Sounds as if you need some comfort food right now and a simple task like that.

Hugs

Thank you very much Mary  :)

By the way.. Here's an update.. Mom was incredibly apologetic today because my siblings NEVER showed up to see her yesterday.

I wanted to shove in her face a nice "I told you so" but opted that wasn't a smart idea lol..

I do plan on making the brownies a little later tonight :)

John....I agree.....bake those brownies, and really ENJOY the process! Taking a bunch of "stuff".....mixing them together just right.....and having a successful outcome just plain feels good!

I meant to mention to you.....when YOU have your own children, remember hurtful situations in your own life and don't let them be repeated.........sending good vibes your way.....p

Thank you Petal Pusher.. I will enjoy it when I make the brownies

I will not allow the painful things to be repeated when I have children.
