LUMBERTON, N.C. — An Amber alert was issued Tuesday for a 3-year-old girl whose mother said four men abducted her daughter at gunpoint.
Jai Mya Glover has been missing since 12:40 a.m., when her mother said four men driving a small dark-colored or burgundy vehicle with silver or gold pin stripes abducted the girl.
It was not immediately clear where the girl was when she was abducted. The Robeson County Sheriff's Department did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
Glover, is black, about 2 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs 27 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and white panties with purple flowers. She also wore two bracelets on each arm.
The Robeson County Sheriff's Department contacted the N.C. Center for Missing Persons before 9 a.m. to request the alert, which first was sent regionally to Cumberland, Hoke, Bladen, Sampson, Duplin, Robeson, Scotland, Columbus, Brunswick, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties.
The alert was entered into the National Criminal Information Center and into the state Division of Criminal Information system for law enforcement. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been contacted as well.
Anyone with information should call the Robeson County Sheriff's Office at 910-671-3170.
I'm praying for her safe return. However, I can't help but be suspicious.
What's the motive?
If the mother is rich, then ransom would be an obvious motive. But do kidnappers really ask for ransom anymore?
Child predators? In a group of four, with guns? That's way out there for the usual MO of a sex offender.
Revenge? Does she know these guys and they had to get back at her for something? Take something so they can get what they want?
I just don't get it. But then again, I don't get why people commit most of the crimes that they do. So, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. But something just doesn't sound right with this.
Bonnie?? How about you? What did your intuition say the first time you read it? Anyone else?
