I always got a buzz from rainy days growing up. But now that I am in Buffalo, they are just cold and rainy, do they don't move me quite the same way.

A tour of Kent State? Was this for the purpose of scouting out colleges that your daughter wants to attend (which I'm guessing it was)?

Did you guys happen to see the marked-off places in the parking lot and other spots on campus where the victims of the shootings were? I wasn't old enough to really remember it when it happened, but I recall the now-famous news photo of the girl crying over the body of one of the students who had been shot (I now know them as Mary Vecchio and Jeffrey Miller).

Shawn - just saw this reponse from a week ago! Sorry about not responding until now. Yes it was a college scouting type trip (Nina's a Junior in HS right now). We were very disappointed in Kent State. So spread out, it's our second largest University in Ohio. Our tour guide said it was a walkable campus but I saw so many cars and parking lots all over the place. Our daughter would need one if she went to a campus like Kent. Needless to say, we were not impressed with Kent at all. Buildings were outdated, sidewalks crumbling all over the place (they must use a lot of salt in the winter) and we didn't see one main student area. So many types of dorms, cafeteria's, food courts. It felt like many colleges thrown together, poorly planned out. The rain didn't help either. It was 39 and pouring on our tour. Our tour guide had on 3 T shirts, they were all sticking out, you know how teens wear their clothes today, a wool sweater, and then a fleece vest with a hood on. 4 days later we toured Indiana University and our tour guide had on a tank top! 39, raining at Kent and 75, sunny at IU, just a few days later! That's how the midwest wx goes huh? Since the Kent State drive was so long we wanted to get back on the road ASAP, so no we didn't get to see the memorial. Our tour didn't take us anywhere near it. Our Kent student guide said it was nice. I'm sure it was. But since returning from this Kent trip, as soon as we say we didn't care for the campus, so many other people agree with us. They just didn't want to give their opinions until we saw it firsthand. Sorry to any Kent alums out there, but we just love Ohio U.'s campus first, and now IU's second. And oh Shawn, we tour UK on May 7th. I think we're stopping at UK. That will make 5 campuses to choose from, although Kent is off the list now.

Sorry for that winded response but honestly, just saw your questions today Shawn!
