Got this message from a wonderful young friend of ours from the Netherlands this morning. She is still a teen, and has the spirit and unbridled enthusiasm of those teen years, but what she said to my wife and me about G. W. is the perception as she sees it....and as she thinks her peers see it too.
I assured her we were still friends after reading her fiery message, and that high school age students who are inspired about politics, whatever their perception, are something I (we) admire.
These were her comments...and of course one reason why it is not hard to believe Mr. Bush's meandering poll numbers from other countries too...
There has been a lot of talk about your country here in Holland because of the Iraqi pictures that were released by The NewYorker last week. I haven't mentioned it to you before because you guys are pro-Bush, but I really think it is time for that guy to go take a hike. He has caused enough trouble to not only Iraq but also to a whole bunch of other countries all over the world and of course to America. And every time he screws up he gives a speech on television, looking over the camera or in a whole different direction altogether giving everyone those puppydog eyes thinking that makes everything all right again. I can think of a thousand reasons this maniac should lose the upcoming elections. As the famous punkband NOFX said on their album 'war against terrorism':"Somewhere in Texas, there's a village without it's idiot." I agree.
Hard to believe I am a republican and am posting our young friend's remarks...but it does point out that the obstacles to re-election are many and complex...especially to the young...and regardless of where they might live.
