DALLAS, Texas (KXAS TV) -- Dallas repair crews worked against the clock to repair a water main break Wednesday night.
The water main along Garland Road near White Rock Lake was shut off, but the road was shut down.
Crews removed chunks of the buckled roadway at Garland and San Raphael, trying to get down to the 12-inch, cast-iron pipe to find out what caused the water main break.
An estimated one million gallons of water flooded the area near White Rock Lake, causing a traffic nightmare during rush hour.
The city of Dallas said the pipe was probably laid in the 1960s.
The repair crews' main focus was to fix the pipe and get traffic flowing on all lanes of Garland Road by morning.
