If I could do that and just watch ER and Third Watch reruns, I'd be happy. Of course, I'd feel horribly guilty...but I wouldn't feel bad for the oil guys. :)

Hell, I gotta better idea ... declare May 19th a STAY AT HOME HOLIDAY ... and everyone just stay off the roads for a few days ... be lazy, play a game or two, stay online ...

Make it 3 in every crowd.I think that stopping cars for one day wont have any effect. Now if that SF idea of stopping for more days then it will work.

Everyone else who at least wants to try, go ahead and skip pumping gas on 5/19. Hey, at least we're trying to combat the problem. Better than whining about it and doing nothing.

Count me as 4 in every crowd. Even if every single person in the US refrained from buying gas for one day, the difference would be covered in the preceeding days, or the succeeding days, as stated above.

Considering the fact that it's impossible to get every single person in the US to watch the exact same TV show on one day, I just don't see THIS happening at all.

Ditto. There won't be a difference in the weekly consumption, so there's no point.

To anyone who missed the link posted above...here it is again. Buying no gas today does absolutely nothing but shift the gas consumption to the day before or the day after (or in a few cases maybe even the day after tomorrow. bad joke). But if you don't buy gas today, you are accomplishing nothing.
