Marine messes serving...FRENCH food?

Yes, Mr. And Mrs. America, you heard it right...the U.S. has a contract with a French firm to provide the food for the 55 USMC mess halls and field kitchens in Kuwait and beyond...the firm was the low bidder at $80 M, and the U.S. says it WILL honor the contract.

I wonder if the Leathernecks out there know who's feeding them? :o

Man, who makes these asinine decisions???
I'd pay a few extra tax dollars to hire an all American firm serving food from home: sausage & eggs w/homefries & grits, hot dogs, burgers, Buffalo wings, Boston baked beans, and a big hunk of apple pie. Might even save a few bucks on jet fuel. :wink:
