Remember

#1 Postby pojo » Wed Mar 26, 2003 5:08 pm

After reading the speech that bfez posted, I thought to myself, why not add something else to the soap box.

I wrote this during the past couple of days (in between homework) to symbolize plight of Americans during this time of war.

Remember the military personnel who had to leave their families behind.
Remember the tears of the parents, children and other family members who cried when they had to see their son/daughter/mother/father leave their loving hands
Remember the families that have to sacrifice loved ones that way they can be shipped overseas to fight for America.
Remember the children that had to wish upon the best for their teachers who have to leave due to military commitments.
Remember those that are currently fighting for our Freedom.

Remember the events like Pearl Harbor, Normandy, Iwo Jima and how the Allies came together to fit a powerful enemy.
Remember what happened on 9-11-01 and how the world gathered to assist the USA in our time of crisis.

Remember those that are currently or have served for the USA in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and the Coast Guard.
Remember why the American flag flies at half-staff.
Remember why so many people visit Arlington National Cemetery.
Remember the soldiers who were succumb to their opponent's guerilla warfare.
Remember the soldiers whom have their names etched in the Vietnam Wall.
Remember what POW and MIA stand for.
Remember the salute of JFK Jr., during his father's funeral procession.
Remember the children who may never see parents ever again.
Remember the pictures of crying parents as they receive an American Flag in their child's memory.

Remember why so much pride and patriotism is publicized from the end of May to the middle of September and beyond.
Remember the flight of the American flag and how it symbolizes peace, friendship, tranquility and power.
Remember how the American Flag was raised on the island of Iwo Jima and on the rubble of the World Trade Centers.
Remember the patriotism after 9-11-01 and how every where you looked an American Flag was flying through the air like an eagle soaring through the wind.

This by any means, is not the final copy. If you feel like adding something else, by my guest.
