THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE CITY OF
LAKEWAY.

THE LAKEWAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT HAS ISSUED A BOIL WATER NOTICE
FOR LAKEWAY. THIS MEANS THAT THE WATER MAY NOT BE SAFE TO DRINK AND
YOU SHOULD BOIL WATER FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE DRINKING AND COOKING.
ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND A MAIN PIPELINE BREAK CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE
STATE TESTING LABS ARE NOT OPEN ON WEEKENDS, SO THIS NOTICE MUST STAY
IN EFFECT UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON. AT THAT TIME, OFFICIALS MAY LIFT
THE NOTICE. LOCAL RESIDENTS MAY TUNE TO LAKEWAY RADIO, 1620 AM, FOR
INFORMATION.

BTW, have you ever noticed how awful water that has been boiled tastes in comparison to water that hasn't? The process of boiling water pushes desolved oxygen out of it, that's why. If you really want to enjoy a good cup of tea, heat the water to just before it boils. Also, boiling doesn't get rid of chemicals - only kills some germs. In fact, in some cases it may make a bad situation worse. In most cases it's better to filter the water.

However, in this case it would be wise to follow the advice of those in the know and go ahead and boil it.
