U.S. officials: Strikes hurt elite Iraqi forces

DOHA, Qatar (CNN) -- An initial battle assessment indicates the Republican Guard's Medina Division -- which includes some of Iraq's most elite forces -- may have been cut in half by repeated bombings, officials at the Pentagon said.

• Central Command says a number of Republican Guard units are now "in serious difficulty"
• More airstrikes in and around Baghdad today, including Fedayeen Saddam complex
• Marines stage raids in southern Iraq looking for Iraqi general known as "Chemical Ali," source tells CNN
