Police looking for man they say took child who was walking to school

A 7-year-old girl was abducted Tuesday morning while walking to school in an Arlington neighborhood and was sexually assaulted before being released about two miles away.
The girl and her 8-year-old brother were in the 500 block of Sherry Street, near East Abram Street and State Highway 360, when they noticed a man outside his light blue car.
"The children said he had stopped as they were walking, and he was talking to himself about car problems," Arlington police spokeswoman Christy Gilfour said. "He then grabbed the girl and forced her into the car."
The 8-year-old boy went home and told his mother, who called police.
About half an hour later, two paramedics spotted the girl walking alone near Collins and Division streets. Ms. Gilfour said the girl was probably dropped off in the area.
The girl was taken to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth and was later released.
Police were still looking for the suspect, described as a white male in his early 20s with a goatee or beard. He was wearing a blue short-sleeved, button-down shirt, bluejeans, rectangular or square glasses and black tennis shoes.
He was driving a blue mid-sized sedan filled with trash bags and debris, the girl reported. A passenger-side door might have been a different shade of blue from the rest of the car.
The children said they had seen the car driving in the area during the last week.
The abduction took place about 10 blocks away from the site where Amber Hagerman was kidnapped in January 1996. Her body was found four days later in North Arlington, and the case remains unsolved.
