Fireworks Found In Jet Bathroom

NEW YORK (AP) Authorities were investigating the discovery early Saturday of fireworks aboard a Spirit Airlines plane at LaGuardia Airport.

Port Authority spokesman Alan Hicks said it was unclear exactly what the fireworks were or how powerful they were. The fireworks were found by a Spirit Airlines employee in the bathroom of the aircraft at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. No passengers were aboard at the time.

The airline alerted Port Authority police about the fireworks and New York Police Department bomb squad personnel removed them. Rini Ader, spokeswoman for Spirit, said further details were not immediately available but the airline was cooperating in the investigation.
