An email: I must clear the air..
Someone just sent me a very upsetting email, and it has to be someone registered with Storm2, because they referred to posts I've made on this forum...and it's for registered members only.
My only motive for creating a website in honor of Pfc Jessica Lynch was to let her and America know how proud of her....how thankful I am she's alive and safe.
After discussing it with both a nurse/ physical therapist (a friend) and a retired psychiatrist (sis's father in law), I decided to add a guestbook and message board, so others could wish Jessica get well messages, messages of support and love. She has a very difficult road ahead...and attitude is crucial. Any words of support and love; knowing others are praying for her, pulling for her has to be beneficial.
I'm not infatuated with Jessica, nor do I pity her. It's compassion and love...the same love I feel for my sisters. When one of them is sick, I worry myself to death. How can I love someone like a sister I've never met? If you have compassion and care for someone...love in your heart, you can with no problem whatsoever.
I've never met David (vbhoutex) in my life, but feel as if he is my brother. Marshall is welcome in my home anytime, so is Patricia (ticka). I feel as if RP (ConstructionWx) is a brother, as I do "Barometer" Bob Brookens. I'm worried to death about Aaron, I'm worried to death about Mike (HurricaneDude)...they seem like my own nephews, maybe even sons. I've only known Jacki from Iowa for a few weeks and feel like she's a little sister. She's cute as a doll and nice to everyone. When they hurt, I hurt...that's just the way I am. In this part of the country, that's the way we're raised. I felt so badly I didn't know about Mike's son, I wept. He's an honorable man..I know. My heart and conscience tells me he is...so is Chad, so is DJ (ArizWx).
In all honesty, I didn't pick Jessica Lynch to create a website for...she picked me. I was preparing a small website in honor of her and other POW-MIA, asking for prayers when she was rescued...and I learned how those big bullies brutalized her. It broke my heart, and I decided on the spot to create her a gift...something special in honor of her bravery, but also something to make her feel better, make the pain go away. I let my heart be my guide, something I never did on any weather website I've ever created.
I had a great uncle that for years made kids happy around here because he'd make them toys in his woodshop...just because he was kind hearted and loved children. He once bought a little neighborhood girl a new bicycle he didn't even know because he found out she had cancer. I'll never forget a sweet little elderly lady that used to manage a laundrymat here in town. Her name was Miss Cotton. She always had a huge bucket of candy and would lavish it on every child that entered. I doubt Miss Cotton made minimum wage, but she always had that candy bucket full, and always paid for it out of her own paycheck...just because she was a kind hearted lady. We all cried like babies when she died in 1974...including my mom and dad.
I've changed quite a bit since 2000 at GoPBI....those that knew me then can tell. Part of it was 9/11...in fact, a large part of it was that horrible September morning. I decided then and there to start being nicer...to stop taking people for granted. Part of it was also growing older, passing age 40, and realizing I won't live forever. I only want one thing to be remembered about me when I'm gone...that I was nice...a kind southern gentleman that left the world a better place than he found it.
Everyone that knows Jessica Lynch tells me the exact same thing...how compassionate she is, how nice, how kind...she always puts others first. One lady told me the other night Jessi and her little sister Brandi donated their own HAIR to make her a wig after cancer chemo caused hers to fall out. The same two girls and their mother walked 15 miles in a walkathon to raise money for the lady's cancer treatment. Thats compassion and it's love...because they weren't even related to the woman. Jessica is a sweetheart...go read the messages in that forum...from the folks that know her.
I know in my heart I'm doing right...my website is honorable, respectful, compassionate...created with love. My motives are as pure as snowflakes. Only someone without a heart could fail to see that.
Sorry, but I just wanted to set the record straight..
God Bless,
Perry

Perry,
I understand your rationale in full; you need not explain to me, or for that matter most of us here.
Whoever sent you that message...perhaps he/she has unaddressed issues of some sort, and you were "available" due to your posts and carefully constructed website (which I have visited many times over the last week or two).
Here in Storm2K, one "bad apple" does NOT ruin the barrel...keep on doing what you do, OK?

Thanks for the kind words guys!
streetsoldier, my gut tells me it was probably someone that's never posted a message here. I looked over the memberlist, and there are a lot of members with 0 posts. It could have been any one of them.
I'm not angry...I just wanted to set the record straight. This is the best forum I've ever posted at, and I've posted at some nice ones with fine posters. This one is the friendliest.
Thanks,
Perry

btw - I just happened to see this. I emailed a letter to Jessica's hometown newspaper in West Virginia a couple days ago. I emailed about a dozen....to newspapers in Georgia and West Virginia; and also to the Georgia Governer, Georgia GOP, Senator Zell Miller, President Bush, and three Nascar drivers...Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, and Rusty Wallace (someone told me they were Jessica's favorite drivers). I'm fixing to email NASCAR headquarters down in Daytona...maybe she can see get well wishes from dozens of drivers.
I know those guys are patriots...one reason I'm such a fan.

Hi Perry. Too bad someone would do something like this to you (and your website). I am looking forward for continual updates on Jessica Lynch's condition as I know you will let us know.
The chances of this e-mail coming from one of the registered members here that hasn't posted once is quite high. I am sure you have noticed - looking at the memberlist - that there are 61 members that haven't posted out of 243. That is 25.1% of the membership here.
Good luck and I hope you (we) can get to the bottom of this.

Only You...
Only you know your motives...and you have clearly painted them on this page. Your defense of them is more than admirable, and your compassion and sensitivity is not only seen in your words, but in between them as well.
Perry, were we not certain of your objectives, so many of us would not have posted our own personal messages to Jessica.
Not through choice of her own, but perhaps through divine intervention, she represents something so good about a war that is so ugly.
And you, sir, are the trustworthy and compassionate conduit through which that good can flow.
Thanks for your sincerity.

Perry - I appreciate that heartfelt post. You certainly didn't have to do that but necessary under the circumstances. Please ignore that email, I'm shocked it happened again. Remember Amanzi.....who is this person I want to know? No wait, maybe I don't want to know. Like you Perry I try my very best to treat people kindly in person and on the boards. What you see is here is what you'd get if you met in person. No double personna or anything. What you're doing with the tribute website for Jessica is very commendable and nice. I feel bad I haven't even gone to it yet. I promise to today.

Thank you for the very kind words. I was half asleep when I posted last night and failed to mention that the reason why I posted it here--
Whoever sent the email describing me as a "an infatuated lovesick dirty old man" trying to woo a vunerable young woman with a bribe--because I "pitied" her -- they lacked the courage of their conviction. When I attempted to send a reply, the email I sent was rejected...the email address was no longer valid
I just wanted to let them know my true motivation, and let them know I'm praying for them.
God Bless,
Perry

Take a Break
Perry,
Whomever did this is a nasty cruel individual with obvious issues of thier own.IGNORE it.In the scheme of things,I suppose I would be upset, but one must remember all the good you have done and will do...this sick individual will not even be remembered when all is said and done.
In the meantime, take a Break! We have some terrific threads going this AM..one is AZSkymans' on how you would be to meet in person.
The other is mine with regard to our homes...and our lives.
C'mon over to these positive threads and treat yourself to some friendship..it's well deserved!

Perry, your posts are always wonderful and very sincere. I think what you have done for Jessica is fantastic. I also received a nasty email once from someone. It upset me and hurt, but I know that there are so many wonderful people here. This one person was not going to get the better of me!
Keep us updated on Jessica and continue to make the website grow, I think it is very honourable and heartfelt!
