techy ? about ad-ware 6.0

#1 Postby hibiscushouse » Sat Oct 23, 2004 6:17 pm

I'm hoping someone has some suggestions here.
Every time I run a scan, my ad-ware 6.0 stops scanning when it's almost finished. It scans alittle over 19,000 objects, and then just freezes up and won't scan further, nor will it finish so I can delete the junk. When I abort, then it goes back to the beginning.
I'm having an issue since my 8 y.o. found out how to search for things on the internet, and he typed in "boobs"
Just like his Dad!
But, you can imagine what's showing up lately! Even with block-up control.

There's another version out. Adaware SE. It's available for free download. Try that - it may not freeze up. I recently upgraded from version 5.1 and it was amazing how many new things it caught.

Yeah for sure.

The new edition of AdAware sure seems to be a lot better than the old one. I run it about once a week and after 3 scans it has a total of 98 deleted items.

I had the older 6.01 version, and took your advice.

The newer Ad-Aware SE took a lot longer, but it went through files I didn't know I HAD, and came up[ with 49 "Objects", all malware or other malignant stuff, and I got rid of the lot.

Thanks for the heads-up! :notworthy:

Yes, it's a scary thought! My kids now have their very own screen name full of parental controls. :grrr:
I upgraded to SE as well. The new version ID'ed over 500 objects yesterday! Oh, the horror!

Some don't start at all.
