That might work with rape, but it only conquers part of the problem with child molestors. A child predator can use his own hands or other body parts on the victim or he can use nothing more than a camera and still exploit his victim.
Think I'm gonna move this to OT where Brent started to post about it also. It has to do with an on-camera weather personality, but very little to do with weather. Also, let's keep it clean. It's a topic that might require frank discussion, but let's be as tactful as possible.

He needed help with his alchoholism. He needs jail for being a child predator. But could it have all stemmed from not getting the help he could have used years ago being an achoholic?
Oh, baloney, these are completely separate. Alcoholism doesn't lead to child molestation, and I'm sure there are plenty of child molestors who don't drink. And getting help for alcoholism doesn't mean all other unrelated mental problems are automatically solved.

Exactly ... 100% agreed ... innocent until proven guilty ... if proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, then we talk about jail time, tar, and feathers ...

I don't see anyone supporting a child molestor ... the original comments about support is regards to alcoholism ... and I'm sorry to hear that you had an ordeal with this in the past ...

As an alcoholic in recovery with decades of sobriety, I have to agree that these are completely seperate issues. This man clearly has problems other than alcohol. Alcohol can certianly magnify the problem, but it is not the root cause. - Windsong

For god's sake, he was enticing underage kids using the Internet! Nobody gets away with this kind of crap, whether they're priests or weathermen. And it's well documented that counseling does NOT help with child molestors, their recidivism rate is almost 100%. The only thing that works is to lock them up.
Exactly. Child molesters do NOT ever change. They need to be locked up for LIFE.
Would you want this scum to be loose in YOUR neighborhood? There are dozens of innocent children in Dale City/Woodbridge where I live.
I can't stand child molesters. Lock 'em up for life and throw the key away.

I never said that alchohol was the root cause.
Lets put an example.
Someone drinks because it helps them cope with a problem or problems. If they get help, they also get help for their problems.
If he drank because he is a sicko, then if he had gotten some help years ago for the alchoholism, then maybe, just maybe he wouldn't have gone down this road.
Just an opinion.

Where did we get he was an alcoholic? He was busted for driving drunk twice. That doesn't necessarily mean he was an alcoholic. I've been designated driver for a handful of people after parties because they had been drinking or were drunk. That doesn't make them alcoholics. It makes them smart (for not driving) and it makes him stupid. God forbid cops only pull over the alcoholics who are driving drunk. I hope they pull over ALL drunk drivers.
And getting help for a drinking problem would NOT stop the urges of a child molestor. He doesn't think he's a sicko and he doesn't drink because of the "problem."

I am appauled that the station nor the network has come to help this person.
He has been there for many people when these storms over the years affected us, and now we hear he needs help, and no one is there to give a hand.
People that comit these types of crimes have a sickness, and to think alchoholism to top it all off. It's treatable, but the sex predator charges if true, is a mental problem that is unexcusable for someone of his position.
Shame it could happen!!!
Bob as far as the alcoholism goes before the person can be helped they have to quit drinking. There is no magic cure. As far as the sex predator charges go the courts have a duty to protect society, especially children, from people like this. And the only way to do it is lock them up and throw the key away.

With all due respect Duck most people busted for DUI are alcoholics if they realize it or not. And 2 DUI arrests means its a sure bet the person is an alcoholic. Typically early stage alcoholics see themselves as "social drinkers" with no clue of the future that awaits them if they continue to drink. I have some personal experience with this trust me
