I need help badly!!!
My computer has been sabotaged!!! It has a virus, and I have the latest anti-virus program, yet it doesn't find it. It has screwed my volume up and has placed links all over the place to dirty adult sites that I don't visit and such. Can anyone help???

Free online virus scan..... http://www.pc-cillin.com and go to housecall.
It may not clean it but it can tell you what you have.
Also, AVG is great...trial version too. http://www.grisoft.com (I think)

It will get rid of your problems.
Garret.. Reboot into safe mode with networking.. Then go to the link Cookiely posted.. Then after you run that in safemode, run the adaware in safe mode.. Then reboot
Seems to be back to normal now. Thanks Chad and to everyone who helped me.

We have an iMac and have never had this problem. In fact, they have all Mac's at hubby's office/work except for one windows they need for a specific function, no viruses there either.
We have a close relative that has to pay for monthly virus protection and have had them numerous times. They seem to lose so much and always asking for Jim's help. He does help, but since he's a Mac user, he can only help to an extent. He finally said last time when he couldn't fix the problem - get an iMac!
Not pushing Macs but they are great to own. Sorry to hear of your virus Garrett.

Thank you Miss Mary. We have MACs at the high school where I work and I detest them. They crash all the time... they never want to load pages right... they drive me nuts. They are only 2 years old, too!
I suppose IMacs at home would be a lot easier to deal with. I haven't had an ounce of problems with my Dell Laptop since I got it a year ago (knock on wood). It is just this stupid Compaq.

I've had to do that TWICE with this stupid computer. It sucks. WARNING: If you do it... you lose everything except what the computer came with.
I'm never getting a Hewlett-Packard again.
You can say that twice. I won't begin to tell you how many times I rebooted. Thank God a friend of mine won a Dell in a contest and he was an angel and gave it to me.

Rebooting has been awful. It got so bad we decided to leave the computer on all the time unless we'll be away overnight or longer. When it does reboot properly, it takes FOREVER.
