I am not one who likes to barefoot, but I love running around in my socks. As a result, I have to buy socks quite often.

I can't stand shoes either, but living up here in the cold north, I only get about 3 or 4 months of no shoe weather. And even then, there are very chilly days sprinkled in. I grew up on a tobacco farm in Maryland, and only wore shoes if I had to, like for school and when we went somewhere. My mom said that is why I have a size 13 triple E foot.

I'm weird folks, because I wear shoes, slippers, sneakers, etc. from the second my feet hit the floor until they retire at night. Socks aren't even enough. I have no idea why. Walking outside barefoot would be like torture. Though out of courtesy, I need to remember to take off my shoes when visiting someone else's house. It usually takes me 30 mins. to realize I'm the only one still wearing my shoes. :o
Hey I bet I have the cleanest feet on the board!

I also wear just wear socks around the house. Right now I happen to have socks as well as slippers on. I get tired of keeping them on for that long.
As for barefooting, like Shannon mentioned... doing so in the summer makes sense. I wouldn't be outside for too long in Massachusetts that long in the summertime on the hot driveway, jumping onto the sometimes dry needlelike grass! :o

That sounds just like Becky...except the running on gravel part. She gets a weekly pedicure (since she was 17)...and usually ruins it before sundown

I'll never forget a blistering hot day in July 1983 in Cocoa Beach...we were on vacation and Becky (with a new pedicure) forgot to carry her flip flops to the beach early that morning. She starts back to the hotel for lunch and does the "hotfoot" dance. She'd hop two or three steps then run right back to the towel...it was hilarious. Becky'd yell "Perry come and get me...it's too hot". I yelled "come'on sis, it's not that hot (of course I wasn't hopping barefoot on 120° degree sand either

Of course, being a compassionate older brother, I finally took pity and carried her...after about five minutes of LMAO

Becky was always a tomboy too...still is. She's better at fishing than me, a better marksman with either a pistol or a .22 rifle; but once Becky got hooked on being pampered in high school, she never stopped. I think a lot of it was missing mom and all the turmoil her passing created in our lives. It's sorta her way of de-stressing....why she does it every week.
I understand how she feels....a trip to the local barber shop (same one I've been going to since childhood) is always something I look forward too...an hour or two to just kick back, relax, and shoot the breeze with the guys

LOL Deb. I was something of a parody to my family. A tom-boy who fished and still does, handles bait, runs around with no shoes on. However, I would rather die than be seen in public without make-up on, my feet get the whole bath and pedicure every evening. My hubby laughs at me because I go fishing with perfume on! Well guess I have the best of both worlds.
