I was answering the question in regards to why we are here as humans. I didn't say the other creatures did NOT serve a purpose. Genesis 1: 28-30 "God blessed them, saying: "Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth. See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food; and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food." And so it happened."

IMO, it's because God created us in His image because he knew that way, we could reciprocate the love He feels for us and that He shared with us by sending His Son to die for our sins. Furthermore, we were created for His pleasure, as stated in Rev. 4:11 "...for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." We can serve Him better as humans. And He sent the Ultimate Servant, in human form, to show us how to be more like Him...though we always fall short.

Well then, why did He create dolphins and monkeys and mites. If we serve Him better as humans, does that mean dolphins and monkeys and mites don't serve Him at all? And if so, why create them? Sounds like a big waste of His time and energy to me.

Of course, this also assumes the question "Why are we here as humans?" can be answered only by The Bible. There are certainly secular answers to this question, but I don't know how you would scientifically prove this either. But because science can't answer this doesn't prove that The Bible can.

Or vice versa!

True. Really, only his question about evolution is subject to scientific testing. (Although I'm not quite sure what he means by "so little time.")

Yes, I would be curious as to the time span of that "so little time".

GalvestonDuck, are you saying that God hand picked each and every one of us to be human? And hand picked each and every creature on earth to be that specific creature? So in addition to trying to live a decent life and raise my children to be decent people, I should (in my free time!!) be pondering why I am a human as opposed to a tree, or a dust mite, or a germ?

For first two questions, IMO - yes. As to the last one, I wasn't asking anyone to ponder why we are humans. Wxcrazy did that in the first post.

Ok, well, I don't have much time for pondering.....but I will say that we are so nice to the dust mites in my house that a large amount of them have chosen to live here!

As for the original questions...

There's a lot that's unexplainable. Every answer to a question raises two more questions. Molecules, atoms, subatomic particles, quarks, the elusive unification theory.... each time they thought they had the "ultimate" answer, and then they realized they didn't. Human nature, The nature of consciousness, the beginning and the end of the universe. They'll never get to these. My answer to the questions of creation, evolution, etc. is simple. I don't know-I wasn't around then. It's very useful to accept SOME givens. Otherwise you can fritter away your life and have nothing to show for it - especially if there's nothing to come after. Somehow I feel that being driven to search out these questions is a way of avoiding something. Live each day as if it could be your last. Life is short. Have some fun. Love someone. Be good to people. Those are my answers to the questions.
