Girl, 4, Somehow Got Caught Under Van

A 4-year-old girl in Brevard County, Fla., died after she was run over by a van driven by her mother as the family searched for a lost puppy, according to a Local 6 News report.
Police said the mother, her daughter Hannah and 13-year-old son were out Tuesday night looking for their lost puppy in a Scottsmoor, Fla., neighborhood.
Hannah was apparently walking next to the van as it was idling, and somehow she became caught underneath the vehicle.
The girl died soon after arriving at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville.
Investigators will talk to the mother Wednesday to try to figure out how the incident happened.
"We're going to try to talk to the mother as soon as she has some time to calm down to confirm the information that we have and piece it all together," Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Channing Taylor said. "And hopefully at the end, we'll be able to find out what happened. This is a terrible tragedy."
Investigators will also talk with a teen witness who lives nearby and noticed the incident.
