My Work Here is Done

Monday will be my last day here on this project and I will be transferred to a new project on Tuesday. It's been an interesting year to say the least. I will be working with a new group of people so I don't know if I'll be able to "get away with" coming here as much during the day.

The above link is a little bit about the Hospital we just completed.

What type of work do you do specifically Mary? Sounds very interesting and since the work place/assignment changes, perhaps not very boring?

Good luck with the next assignment. Pop in when you can!

Mary, I work for a large electrical contractor and have been on many projects over the last 10 years. My first one was Alltel Stadium where the Jaquars play and where the Super Bowl is this year. :) This was my first Hospital job.

I work in the field office and assist site managment with all aspects of the project and do the payroll.

Mary - sounds interesting! And like I said, never dull....

My brother started a part-time business with another partner a few years ago - drawing new blueprints for large facilities such as a hospital or mall. From when the buildings were first built. Hope this makes sense. He said there's a growing need for this service, since hospitals and the like are always upgrading and renovating. And they need to know where electrical/plumbing/ductwork are located.

But then it took on a life of it's own and he would have had to travel from home. He still works full-time for UPS and needs to remain in Cincy until he retires. But he has a drafting degree from years ago. Hence, his idea for the new business venture. He was forced to finish up with UPS first. Still waiting until the best retirement package comes along to retire.

Your job sounds similar to what he started. I'm always hoping he can pick it up again someday when he does retire. He's not even 60 yet! A lot of life in him yet. LOL He did say that if he could travel, that part about it would be interesting and never dull.

Mary I think those drawings are called As-Builts. We just finishing our set right now. Part of my job is making sure all the changes get put on the drawings and voiding out the old ones. :) I wish your brother well in his busines venture.

The idea of doing the "as-builts" on a contract basis is interesting. Never thought of it. Do them for phone installations, etc.

How many other independent project managers, documentation people are out there on this board?
