Geezzzz, I feel like an inconsiderate jerk. Miss Mary, I'm sooooo sorry I missed your big day. It sounds like we may extend this thread into next year though. 39th you say??? You don't look a day over 28. I know your special day was a little hectic with parties, graduations and other celebrating but I hope you found some special time just for you. I think in lieu of Earl Grey tea, I'll make you a Long Island Iced Tea!!!! ((Hugs)) my friend.

I've had a few Long Island Iced Tea's in my day....LOL All put me under the table. Couldn't figure out why....until I watched a bartender make one, once. That was it for me!!!! How about we share that iced tea Karan? LOL Being a lightweight and all, as my one SIL says I am. ;-)

Smiled at the 28 comment. Last time I thought about being 28 was probably when I had one of those drinks!!! he he

My kids keep reminding me of my exact age - gotta love teenagers. They'll keep ya honest everytime.

Half for you and half for me. I bet you are funnier than heck when you get three sheets to the wind. I'd love to see that!!

Yes, those kids have a way of reminding us of our age. Mine decided 60 was going to be the greatest - with dinner and a surprise party afterward. You'd think it was my last one by the way they were acting!!! Actually my daughter's ages (39 and 37) remind me more of my age than anything else!! Gosh my oldest will be 40 next year!!! Oh boy am I going to have a party for her. (payback is a real bit@h!!)

That's right Karan - that's the spirit. 60 is young anymore. A friend of ours turned 50 last Sept. I lamented I was the same age now and he scoffed at me, saying didn't you know? 50 is the new 30! So we can make 60 the new 40 if you want!!!

When I am 3 sheets to the wind, LOL haven't heard that phrase in a while, I talk very-very fast. No one can understand me. Then of course in my head I try to slow down, realizing okay girl, you're getting tipsy here.....and you can't! So then you sip more of your drink, which in the end makes it all worse!!!

Of course, this has happened only once or twice, ya know....;-).

Believe that and I'll tell ya another one!!!

Mary

PS - about those LI iced teas.....you should have heard me when I realized there absolutely no tea in that drink. It's just a shot of this, a shot of that. I was shocked and then realized, no wonder I got so drunk on that so called iced tea. Picture a Phoebe moment here from Friends. My LI iced tea ephiphany. Now I stick to beer and when I see someone order one for the first time, I whisper - you do know that is ALL liquor don't you? he he

Putting my hand on my hip and asking....

REALLY? LOL

I thought it was all liquor. But there are at least 3 shots of liquor in each drink, isn't there? Wonder what makes it taste like iced tea I wonder.....b/c it does! That fools me. Or did, long, long time ago.....

I just have to find more time for friends! Sorry I missed yours...while you found time for mine! Makes this good friend embarrassed!

Well, we're both in our 50's together now (but not for long!). I'm blazing the trail for you.

Just realized that you shared your birthday with my mom. She would have been 90 on your special day.

Have a great year Mary!

Aww thanks Steve. That's nice I share your mother's BD. I'm sure her BD is a special day to you though.

Soooo, we're both in our 50s huh? It still hasn't sunk in yet, that I am 50.

We are celebrating this weekend in fact. Sounds crazy but when my actual day came around, we were so busy it was crazy 2 weeks ago!

Thanks Stephanie! This is a nice Forum. Not all BD greetings. We have really good recipes going around sometimes. Check it out often.

It is a nice forum and I remember the recipes and the gardening info that's posted here from time to time. I think it was opened last year specifically for gardening at first.

I'll be back! :D

My 50's have been the best decade ever thus far. Plenty of adventure, new faces, new challenges, and enough hugs from my first two granddaughters to make it even more special (I'm sure you can wait a while for that treat however).

Mary...your perspective on these years will be a terrific one. I can just tell that by who you are!

Perhaps if granted the time on the clock, we can recap your 50's together someday and compare notes....right here on S2k.

God has blessed us both with real friends here.

Actually, I think every decade is better than the prior one. The wisdom gained from those prior years is a tremendous benefit.
