Are they doing their part or just CYA?
Kuwait City, Kuwait, Jun. 11 (UPI) -- Iranian officials say that almost 5,000 al-Qaida members have been arrested there since 2002. During a visit to Kuwait, Iranian National Security Adviser Hassan Rowhani denied that his country has provided a haven for senior al-Qaida agents, Middle East Newsline reported.
He said that most of those detained in Iran have been returned to their own countries, but a handful of senior members are awaiting trial. Rowhani said that the arrests have been reported to the United Nations. "I don't think any country could claim superiority over us," Rowhani said, referring to the international effort against al-Qaida.
