The first time I experienced the pure cajun french I was in the Luling and LaPlace areas with some lifelong friends. We went to the drag races at LaPlace and them met with their friends at the levee waiting for the ferry(no bridge then)and partying. I heard both the real cajun french, which is definitely different from "real" french and of course the mixture of that and what I call cajun meaning English with the true cajun speak thrown in. Quite an experience.
