Room Decorations

#1 Postby azskyman » Tue May 06, 2003 7:44 am

I've gathered up some nice weather photos over the years, but I haven't ever used them as decor in my office. I have a wall above the computer I am considering for that.

Just before I finished publishing the American Weather Observer I made a plea to some of the long-time weathercasters to go check out the closets and storage rooms at their TV stations. I was looking for one of the old magnetic weather maps with all the pieces of "weather art" like cut out fronts with half circles or triangles for warm or cold fronts, circles for highs and lows, and if I could find them, those magnetic thunderstorm symbols that "sort of" flashed lightning when the camera focused on them.

I think I'll go on a hunt for those among my former TV weather guy friends around the country even though most of them have been replaced by bright young men and women who look as perfect as all the graphics they have to share with the viewers.

Anyone remember those old weather maps and all the magic they had to work to put them together with magnets and plastic and symbols?

I remember particularly Action News, WPVI Philadelphia would have "happy" clouds and "mad" clouds (good weather versus bad). They would also have one empty cloud that would have a clever summary written by the meteorologist as to what to expect within the next 24 hours. Actually, they still have them so to speak but it seems like it is computer driven (at least I hope so :o ).
