The official "Brat Camp" thread

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Thu Jul 14, 2005 10:53 am

On Wednesday Night, ABC was showing the special 2-hour premiere of their next reality show titled "Brat Camp". This deals with a group of teenagers who are out of control, some are drug abusers, sexually active, compulsive liars, etc. They're sent away to a wilderness camp to see if they can get their acts straightened up. Unfortunately, it's not working on some.

If they think this 40-60 day program is painful, they haven't experienced anything yet. Although, it was brave of Lexie to come forth with her incident with a family friend.

I didn't catch it last night. But give it time. It might work on some of them. I'm sure they didn't change overnight. :)

Haha, as much as I hate Hell's Kitchen we still watch it!

I really wanted to catch Brat Camp, I didn't realize it would be on last night. I guess we will have to catch it next week and set the DVR up to record it....hopefully they will replay this episode.

I enjoyed it! I have to get up really early in the mornings, and I actually sacrificed 1 hour of my precious sleep to watch it... LOL It'll be interesting to see the progression of these kids... But they sure are brats!

It difinitely has made me think twice about if/when I want to have kids! Oh, the horror...

Hehehe it's funny to watch people my age act like that... For some reason I turned on the television around 1 in the afternoon a few days ago and Maury was on. "My teenager wants to get pregnant!"

There were 13 year old's on that show.

One of my favorite Boot Camp moments on TV back in the late 90s was when an out of control teen was sobbing when she was told to get her hands up. The sargeant was like "OH, BOO-HOO-HOO! CRY-Y!! OH, BOO-HOO! BOO-HOO! CRY, YO MOMMA NOT HERE!"

And also this:

Sargeant: DISCIPLINE...
Teen: Discipline...
S: INSTANT...
T: Instant...
S: WILLING...
T: Willing...
S: OBEDIENT...
T: Obedient...
S: TO ORDERS!
T: To orders.
S: DISCIPLINE...
T: Discipline...
S: INSTANT...
T: Instant...
S: WILLING...
T: Willing...
S: OBEDIENT...
T: AAAHHH!!!
S: AAHH! Nobody said "AAAHH!!"

The world is corrupt.... It would be nice if these kids just realised that it's noone elses but their own futures that they are messing up by doing this... It's all about self-control,self-respect and self-diciplin... Everyone has a choice in what they do, They just need direction. Okay this went a little bit off the show topic, but I find it really sad when people my age and younger are acting with no thought to their future.

One of my stepsons went through that...all it did for him is (a) make him physically stronger, and (b) more aggressive, since he learned how to fight from his campmates. :larrow: :grrr: Now, he's a "three-time-loser" who's hiding out from charges in at least four MO counties, and possibly one in Memphis TN. And...we have NO contact with him, unless he "needs something" (money, bail, etc.).

Of course, we refuse. :larrow:

After spending 3 full days and nights in individual seclusion, most of the teens have come a long way, except for Jada who is still the drama queen of the group. She was writing manipulative letters to her parents pleading them to pull her out of camp with words such as "My hair is falling out!" My clothes are all wet!" or "I can't write anymore, my hand is broken!" or whatever. As well as writing songs that dissed everything. Jada's so good that she deserves an Oscar or an Academy Award.

After confronting her own past situations, I think Lexie's gonna be one of the first teens to go home before Christmas.

I just found out yesterday that 3 deserving teens will get a surprise reunion with their family. The only question is which 3 teens? I know it's not gonna be Jada.

Sometimes drastic times call for drastic measures. But what irks me is they show the bad kids on TV all the time how about a show that showcases the good kids in our society. I know many teenagers who are really good kids, yet no one wants to learn about them. Take the trash off the TV and show us something Worth watching!

'Brat Camp' teen faces charges in racial graffiti case

WINTON, Calif. (Court TV/AP) — A 17-year-old featured in the "Brat Camp" reality TV series was charged for allegedly spray-painting racial slurs in front of a home.

Isaiah Alarcon of Winton is one of nine teenagers featured on the ABC program, which documents their progress through a 50-day Oregon wilderness school known for its success at teaching children better behavior.

Alarcon told sheriff's deputies on July 29 that he used spray paint to scrawl the slurs on the street outside a black preschool teacher's home, said Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin.

The teen was held in a juvenile facility for two days and charged with interfering with the exercise of civil rights and damaging property, Pazin said.

A hearing is planned Tuesday to determine if he will be tried as an adult.

"These kids had some real serious issues that needed to be dealt with in a long-term process, not a multi-week TV program for entertainment," Pazin said.

The Web site for the TV show describes Alarcon as an "angry punk rocker who smokes, drinks and has an obsession with fire." It said his mother sent him to Oregon's SageWalk camp to "learn how to deal with his anger issues."

ABC declined to comment, and producers did not return repeated phone messages.

A teenage friend of Alarcon also was detained and faces the same charges, plus a charge of conspiracy, Pazin said.

Pazin said both told deputies they didn't mean to cause any harm with the graffiti. If convicted, each could face up to two years in jail and a $15,000 fine.
