I posted the news about his nationality to quell any rumors, given that all that was known was that he was here on a visa.

From the Virgina State Police website:

Does one have to have U.S. citizenship to be eligible to purchase a firearm?
A buyer who is not a citizen of the United States must have lawful alien status and must establish that he or she is a resident of a state by providing a valid photo identification and documentation such as a utility bill or lease agreement which would establish that he or she has resided in the state for at least 90 days prior to the date of the sale.

More victims are being identified. It's so sad. I'm just watching a little bit of coverage on CNN. One 18-year-old freshman girl died. Tony Harris on CNN said the father said he had been up all night waiting for word and then got the word that "his baby didn't make it".

So sad.   The human element is what makes this so gripping.

Oh and as far as Drudge, I don't like his views and the things that he does but he does have a good site that puts out lots of information.

St. Edwards University in Austin, TX evacuated due to threatening note/bomb threat.

The copycats begin. This happened a lot after Columbine too.

My prayers and condolences for your friend's loss. May the friend rest in peace.

FYI, I also lost a good friend from high school named Leslie Sherman. We knew each other well and were on the track team together for three years. We also had a business class together. She was a funny woman who always had a smile. RIP Leslie. You will be missed.

Also, the Erin Sheehan you are hearing about being one of the four being able to walk out of the German room is one of my best friend's ex-GF. We are relieved to hear that she is ok and is doing well.

My prayers and condolences to all those that were affected. May God's Grace be upon all of them in this difficult time. :(

My condolences to all the families of the victims of what has already been coined as The Virginia Tech Massacre. It's such a disturbing event that there are very few words to describe it. Your mind becomes blocked and words don't easily come out. This is something that is only believed to happen in wars and in movies, but when it happens in real life, it becomes for many, a life turning experience.

Just like it says in the university's newspaper, it's an event that will mark the year 2007 for years to come.

Va. Tech Shootings: Blanket Coverage Of Convocation At 2pm ET
All three broadcast networks will broadcast today's Virginia Tech Convocation on campus beginning at 2pm.

Brian Williams, Charles Gibson, and Katie Couric will anchor on their respective networks.

"The exact end time is uncertain," an NBC alert says. "If the Special Report is still in progress at 2:35 PM, the network will fill until the top of the hour."

Williams, Gibson and Couric are each interviewing President Bush and the First Lady this afternoon...

If I weren't utterly worn out today, I would go to the vigil we're having here at VCU (it's at 3:00). Instead, I've been wearing orange and/or maroon all day and will probably do it for as long as feasible - I don't own a lot of orange clothes.

Honoring the Victims of the Tragedy at Virginia Tech
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

Our Nation grieves with those who have lost loved ones at Virginia Tech. We hold the victims in our hearts. We lift them up in our prayers, and we ask a loving God to comfort those who are suffering.

As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on Monday, April 16, 2007, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, Sunday, April 22, 2007. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this seventeenth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

GEORGE W. BUSH

Massacre Gun: $571 for 9 mm Glock and 50 Bullets at Roanoke Store

April 17, 2007 2:59 PM

Brian Ross and Richard Esposito Report:

Seung-Hui Cho bought his first gun, a 9mm handgun, on March 13 at a Roanoke, Va. gun store, the owner tells ABC News.

John Markell, the owner of Roanoke Firearms, said today that he had been interviewed by three agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms about Cho's purchase of a Glock 9 mm handgun.

"I feel terrible about this," Markell told ABC News at his store today, which is part gun shop, part pawn shop on the outskirts of Roanoke.

Markell said Cho's gun and a box of 50 bullets cost $571. He said Cho paid by check and left the store with the gun.

Markell said Cho was "a clean-cut college kid," and the transaction was entirely legal under Virginia law. "He was as cordial as could be, and there was nothing unusual in his manner that suggested any thing wrong," Markell said.

Markell said he was not present when Cho bought the gun, but that he had produced a state driver's license and an immigration card.

Law enforcement officials tell ABC News Cho bought his second weapon, a .22 caliber handgun, also in Virginia, within the last week.

"This was no spur of the moment crime. He's been thinking about this since at least the time he bought the first gun," said former FBI agent Brad Garrett, an ABC News consultant.

Under Virginia law, state residents can only buy one handgun in any 30-day period, suggesting Cho bought his second weapon after April 13 or sometime over the weekend.

"He clearly spent some time figuring out how he was going to take care of business once classes began on Monday morning," said Garrett.

The date of the first gun purchase will likely serve as the time of "some triggering mechanism that was very important" to Cho said Garrett, an expert on profiling murderers.

A Pastor in Fort Worth is even talking about this issue when remembering the 1999 shooting and bombing of his Church.

WHOA! The woman at the presser with the VA Governor just told the media at the end of it that the report about Cho's parents committing suicide(which was reported by someone, though I haven't heard that) is NOT true. That was bizarre.
