Has anyone noticed the pattern since the top 12? Guy(stripper dude), Girl(Amanda), Guy(Chikezie), Girl(Ramiele), and now Guy again. *puts on tinfoil hat*

Just a couple, fact? Quite a few, IMO.

Well, I'm through with this stupid show. Sorry, but there's NO WAY MJ had the lowest votes. He has one of (or the, IMO) best voices in the competition. I fully expected him to be one of the few fighting for a spot in the finale. This is unreal.

And the way they said, "as you all know last year for Idol Gives Back we didn't eliminate anyone..." and then to say they weren't doing that this year. What a load of crap for Michael's fans. They're cruel and can kiss my butt. Image

Tonight is precisely the reason I think there needs to be judge voting at this point as well as public vote. How do you think people like Rubin Studdard win and people like Chris Daughtry and Michael Johns get voted off. If yo do no develop a "fan club" or a "voting machine" you are not likely to stay around at this point. JMHO

What is sad is they continue to lose credibility when things like this happen.

IMO, these last 8 are amazing compared to years past with few exceptions and it all gets down to who has the best way to get people voting for them other than just performing and singing well.

And yes Syesha should be gone.

It isn't a singing competition, it's a popularity contest.

Taylor Hicks over Chris Daughtry? Are you kidding me?

BTW, which one of them became big? I forget.

I am slightly more shocked at Ryan Seacrest's behavior .. . he's acted like a jacka$$ before, but last night was obnoxious.

As for judge voting. . .umm . . . no. Only because there already is TPTB manipulation (in the name of drama and getting the person they think will be easier to shape as an "American Idol" -- this is a business after all)going on and I think the judges are implicit in the manipulation of the voting . . . note: I don't think what happen this week was caused by manipulation by judges . . . but I think something fishy went on . . .

As for Ruben. . . I am still of the mind that TPTB wanted him to win and that there was some funny business with the numbers.

But on the other hand, blocks of voters have known to do things to disrupt the contest, namely John Stevens and Sanjaya, just to annoy the TPTB. . . .

American Idol Fans Outraged Over Seacrest’s Cruelty To Michael Johns
Writing by Joe Reality on Friday, 11 April, 2008 at 1:01 am

Over the years, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has often come up with some very twisted and shocking ways to reveal which contestants has been eliminated on American Idol. With the American Idol results show running an entire hour, it’s Seacrest’s job to keep the show lively and interesting.

However, many American Idol fans are outraged over Ryan Seacrest’s comments during the elimination of Idol finalist Michael Johns. In what could be Seacrest’s cruelest tease ever on American Idol, he said, “That means Michael has the lowest number of votes this week. Now, last year during Idol Gives Back, we didn’t eliminate anybody at this stage of the competition.”

After the camera cut in on the face of a surprised Michael Johns turning to give Seacrest a hopeful look, Seacrest continued, “Tonight, we’re going to say goodbye to Michael Johns.” Many American Idol fans immediately turned to the American Idol message boards to express both their surprise over Michael Johns elimination and their anger over the way Seacrest delivered the results.

As with any shocking elimination on American Idol, there are plenty of cries of conspiracy and demands for a recount. Conspiracy theories range from fans not voting because they didn’t think there would be an elimination during Idol Gives Back week to American Idol producers scripting the outcome to boost ratings with a shocker elimination.

However, many fans are just as upset over the way the elimination was handled as the elimination itself. A common theme of complaints is that making Michael Johns think he might have a chance of continuing on the show was cruel and inappropriate, especially considering it came in a week where Idol was promoting charity and giving.

At least Michael Johns can take solace in the fact that going in a shocking elimination on American Idol can often be just as good as winning. Both Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry went on to very successful careers after what many fans considered to be early exits from American Idol.

I don't know what to think. On the one hand the ratings are noticeably down from last year(although it still easily dominates everything), on the other, I've long thought they sometimes do shocking boots to boost ratings.

But I also think that maybe his fans didn't vote like they normally did. Maybe they thought he was safe. That's what happened with Daughtry(although in his case DialIdol had him as the lowest vote-getter).

I just can't believe he outlasted Syesha and Kristy Lee especially, and even Carly. You could see it on their faces during his sing out, they thought it should have been them.

I think Paula is a bit... wacky(being nice :P ), but I totally agree with her.

Oh and the ratings drop is really noticeable, especially considering ABC and The CW had on repeats, Survivor is way down, and NBC was a disaster. It faced less competition than it has before on Thursday.

American Idol 7: Michael Johns Elimination Interview

Friday, April 11, 2008

Michael Johns received a shock elimination from American Idol last night. This may not have been a bad thing for Michael. The Chris Daughtry comparison has been thrown around regarding Michael (but more so for David Cook), and the fact that being eliminated at this point in the season will give him a lot of freedom when it comes time to make his first album. Johns has more commercial potential than most of the American Idol singers this season, and is one of the very few singers whose album I might give a listen to. This morning, Johns conducted a conference call interview with the press and discussed his elimination and his time on the show.

During his send off performance last night, he was not even thinking, which is why he may have performed so well. He's not going to lie, either – he was extremely surprised that he was eliminated last night. He's still a little bit in shock. He never chose a song based on what everyone else was doing, and he had no problem doing “Dream On” by Aerosmith on Tuesday. No regrets. Apparently, according to one reporter, Michael has a very goofy off stage persona. But, he says that he likes to keep it professional on stage. He was planning on doing a version of “Vision of Love” for Mariah Carey week next week.

He respects Simon's comments, but he didn't want to sing the bluesy stuff every week. He considers himself a rock/soul singer and not a pure blues singer. Michael was a little put off by Ryan's “maybe you aren't going home” riff at the end of the episode last night. But, he's OK with it – Ryan apologized profusely after the show. Michael has been hearing a lot of the Chris Daughtry comparisons over the last day, and he's still not sure about it. He thinks that, whether you win the show or not, post-Idol success usually comes when a singer remains true to themselves, and that's what Michael plans on doing. Michael admits that, to drown his sorrows, he'll probably be drinking a bit of beer coming up pretty soon.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman contacted Michael this morning, as did Dolly Parton, to tell him how much they enjoyed Johns and his performances. He's going to have a lot of options for where he makes his first album, one would think. Michael doesn't believes his ascot had anything to do with his elimination. I agree.

Rock on, Michael. Dream on.
