Don't miss it!
Actually they will air the pilot, then on the 13th pick up with the episodes starting in February after the hiatus. There's not enough weeks to repeat the entire season.

Oh wow, I was wrong Brent. Thanks so much for correcting me. I was hoping they'd air two episodes a week but only saw the pilot on the schedule this week.
Well now, how in the world are they going to attract new fans by airing only part of the season?
Thanks again.

PS - and no I was not one of the avid, diehard fans that sent nuts to the CBS studios.....but hats off to those that did!

Jericho Returns: Secrets Behind the Cult Hit's "Resurrection"
by Michael Maloney
You know the story. Last year, CBS said, "You're canceled!" Jericho "Rangers," taking a cue from the show's hero, Jake Green (played by Skeet Ulrich) and also Anthony C. McAuliffe, a U.S. General during World War II, responded firmly with, "Nuts!" Now Jericho is back for a seven-episode run starting tonight at 10 pm/ET on CBS.
"There's been a little angel on Jericho's shoulder," Carol Barbee, executive producer, tells TVGuide.com. "We didn't think the seven episodes CBS gave us were very much, but if we'd been given eight, we'd have a finale sitting in pieces unedited [because of the strike]. Instead, we have seven shows ready to go."
The series concluded Season 1 with the title town and neighboring community, New Bern, ready to go to war. The action doesn't slow down in tonight's episode, appropriately titled "Resurrection." "Season 1 was about survival and getting resources," says Dan Shotz, co-executive producer. "We wanted to make the second season broader — it's about how [people] face a [new] government."
"Season 2 is about saving the country and a system of government," adds Barbee. "The story starts in the first episode, so you can jump right in."
New characters this season include Esai Morales (NYPD Blue) and George Newbern (Providence) as, respectively, Major Beck and President Tomarchio of the Allied States of America. "We knew when we lost the character of Johnston Green [Gerald McRaney] that there was a loss of 'awesomeness' on the landscape," says Barbee about casting Morales. "We were looking for someone to fill that."
Newbern worked with Barbee when she was a writer/producer on Providence. "We had other types in mind, but we ultimately said, 'What about a guy who looks like John Edwards?'"
Producers entertained getting McRaney back for a guest gig (perhaps as a spirit), but the actor was busy trying to keep wife Delta Burke from buying more junk on Broadway doing Dividing the Estate. "He would have had to have flown out and back on the same day," says Barbee.
Pamela Reed, who starred in Season 1 as Jake's mom, Gail, will be back, but on a limited basis. The actress reportedly addressed her not being given a contract during a panel on ageism at the Los Angeles Femme Film Festival. "Losing Pamela broke everyone's heart," says John Turteltaub, executive producer. "We were asked to cut our cast and put more action into the show. Your mom is not going to be a focus of the action."
True, but didn't Reed swing a mean baseball bat to villainous Carroll Baker's midsection in Kindergarten Cop? "Yes, she did," chuckles Turteltaub, adding, "Hopefully, we'll come back [for another season] and be able to expand our cast."
Producers want viewers to know that the cult favorite by no means excludes new viewers. "The last thing we want to do is tell people that there's a super-secret Jericho club," says Turteltaub. "We're trying to give our most loyal fans a reward, but we also have to make a show that will invite the rest of America to watch, too."
How would he sell the series to a Jericho newcomer? "It's about a town rebuilding," he says. "It's a microcosm to what all of America would face if we were hit with a huge catastrophe. You see how people react differently."
Jericho's storytellers have two conclusions in mind for the seven-episode arc. "We leave with a cliff-hanger that will hopefully take us into a Season 3," says Shotz.
"The alternate ending that CBS asked for doesn't end the show," clarifies Barbee. "Our ending that we love shows the next mission that has to be accomplished. The other ending lets you know that the guys you love are OK."
One point that may be resolved is the Heather (Sprague Grayden)/Jake/Emily (Ashley Scott) triangle. An online poll had more than 60,000 replies favoring one love interest, but that doesn't mean that the other won't emerge the winner. "The characters have a certain trajectory that they have to continue in so that the integrity of the story can be kept," says Barbee, adding, "But I love the fact that we've created characters that viewers fight about."

Re: Jericho
Great episode. This show seems so fast to me compared to other shows. The hour flies by. I didn't send nuts but I wrote the powers that be so much it drove them nuts. I sure hope more people tune in this year. I'm just sorry that the mother won't be having a more active role in the show.

It does fly by. Great episode. At first you are comforted by the military presence and restored power. But then you have that uneasy feeling again. You're not sure who to trust anymore!
Brent - I missed a handful of episodes in the middle of last season. Saw the pilot, a few after it, missed a few but quickly caught up before the finale. But I do know that New Bern should have been working with Jericho and they weren't. Something about a salt mine reserve? And NB did hold Jericho hostage. They wouldn't work out a deal with Jericho, to share food, fuel, etc. Jericho at least was fair minded (thanks to Jake's late dad, who was the town's early mayor, the newly elected mayor last season was and probably still is, ill prepared to lead a town in a crisis). There were many stories going on last season, the grocery store rations (remember the owner was murdered, the young kid took over), limited power, newcomers that needed a place to stay and Jericho took them in, when New Bern would have probably killed them or let them starve and freeze to death.
I don't quite trust this new government and the commander (forget his name). Constantine reminds me of an old boss of mine (could be a dead ringer for his double, LOL!)......of course you don't trust him either. But something tells me that Jake will need Constantine someday and New Bern/Jericho could team up, instead of being enemies.
Each time they show the new flag, it gives me chills!

Re: Jericho
The second-season premiere of Jericho was left at the starting gate, meanwhile, with a third-place 4.1/ 7 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Comparably, Jericho debuted with a 7.7/12 on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at 8 p.m., and a repeat of Without a Trace on the year-ago evening averaged a 5.7/ 9. All together now…ouch!
Yikes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with creepy feelings about the flag. Tears came to my eyes. Brent, the numbers are making me sad. I'm hoping the writers strike will get some new people to tune in instead of watching reruns.

Episode Recap: "Termination for Cause"
Verisimilitude.
Not only is this one of the neatest sounding words in the English language, "Verisimilitude" essentially means something that is true or something that has the appearance of truth. I first learned of this word through documentaries about Superman: The Movie. Director Richard Donner prepared his staff for filming by hanging sign on their office walls containing the word "verisimilitude" with Superman's figure hovering above it. Donner succeeded in lacing the movie with human candor, so that a man flying in blue and red tights would be taken seriously.
"End of the World Films" have inundated the film medium in recent years, Independence Day being the most high profile vehicle. That movie went the more comedic route, portraying outrageous characters and their unbelievable feats. But what this film lacked was the "verisimilitude" needed to truly bring these characters to life.
Jericho's "Termination for Cause" packed an emotional wallop that I have rarely experienced in either television or film. The characters were portrayed at odds with each other, each with rational subjective arguments to their cause. It was with this understanding of their humanity, this "verisimilitude," that our hearts sympathized with their plight.
Goetz became aware that Mimi was hidden inside the Richmond House when he murdered Bonnie, so he gathered his men from Jennings & Rall to silence Mimi while she was still in the hospital recovering. Goetz had a Jericho citizen undercover inside the hospital, named Fred, to provide him intel regarding the impending siege. Fred's reason for defecting to Goetz was based solely on the guarantee that his family would not be harmed. Not only did I empathize with Fred's actions, his peers similarly understood his reasoning. Instead of condemning Fred after his two-faced guise was discovered, Jake sternly told him to leave and return to his family. Earlier in the episode, another Jericho resident was faced with the dilemma of either defending the hospital against its J&R insurgents or leaving to protect his wife. Just like this other individual, Fred's conduct was tainted by his love for his family. Meanwhile, Goetz and his soulless soldiers had no motivation other than cover up the unexplainable havoc they created. I do not understand Goetz, and that is why I hate him.
Of the Richmond trio (Bonnie, Stanley, and Mimi), I am glad that it was Bonnie who was deemed "worthy" to die. Stanley and Mimi have now experienced a loss that will color their every scene for the remainder of the show's existence. It was painfully heartbreaking to witness Stanley signing to Bonnie's corpse, "Are you ok?" Stanley felt such an emotional responsibility towards his sister that in his mind he failed her. Thus, it made perfect sense when Stanley, who has proven himself to be a fierce soldier when necessary, ***SPOILER ALERT*** put a bullet through Goetz' head. Despite the inevitable confrontation with Major Beck, Stanley's revenge made for a necessary step towards his self-inflicted redemption.

I am sick of those so-called reality shows. The term reality show is overused. In fact I do not like that term. So-called reality shows like Survivor, Moment of Truth, etc. are just game shows because there is a prize at the end. American Idol is an extended Star Search. The Bachelor is an extended version of The Dating Game. A true reality show would be COPS and sport event shows, like football or NASCAR.

The problem with Jericho is, I believe, a show that engages your emotions and possibly shakes the very foundation of your beliefs - could this really happen? I love shows like this, always have, with a disaster at its roots and then the aftermath. But I think a lot of TV viewers don't want to put this much effort into watching a weekly show. They want entertainment now - so they can just sit there and not have to think too much.
Which doesn't really say a whole lot about Americans does it?
And oh, you all know I'm a diehard Lost fan and can so easily slip into Lost lingo (with family, at parties, etc. LOL).
I do hope Jericho comes back for another season but it is a dark drama. And possibly far too disturbing for some viewers.
Stanley's action and his reaction right after he shot Goetz pretty much summed up what Jericho is all about - what would you do if you had survived a nuclear attack, had your country's major cities wiped out, a new seemingly trustworthy government in place, who in turn murdered your sister, react? And that flag - that new waving flag says it all for me - all is not well in Jericho and the US.
