Good Morning!
Tis a fine day dawning this early a.m., it's 49° at 0510 MST. We had some pretty decent thunderheads building all around us yesterday, a few claps of thunder, no rain! It *sounds* like the monsoons for me could be crankin' up here pretty soon, God I hope so.........I dread my water bill this month.
Heading to the driving range at 0630 then off to Flagstaff to pick up my daughter for a month WooooHooooo! I haven't seen her since Christmas and even then, I didn't get to spend much time with her because of ALL the BS over at TWC AND one member in particular who shall remain nameless (we KNOW who THAT was, right?)
The papers here and I need a smoke and another cuppa Joe, Make it a great day would ya?

Howdy everyone --
Looks like we have TS Bill. Everyone in harm's way be careful and stay safe!
Calm weather here in SW Missouri today. Lots of sunshine headed our way and highs into the middle 80's.
I couldn't sleep last night at all for some reason. I got up around 4 a.m. to check and there was nothing on tv, so I read for a little bit (after logging into S2K) before falling back to sleep. I hope this doesn't become a habit!
Everyone have a good day!

Good afternoon, Porchians! Here's a few boxes
of KK's for everyone. Garrett, there's a box of
chocolate-covered ones with sprinkles, so, you'd
better keep your eyes on Crouton if you want any!
Josh, keep babying that ankle - put your foot up,
as much as you can, ok?
Dennis, have some fun with your daughter! Thank God
that you won't have to worry about the two problems you
had to deal with around Christmas, now!
It's been sunny and rather hot, here in mid-TN, but,
I DID get a few things done, this weekend. I trimmed
hedges, yesterday, and, today, I realize the need for
more excercise - LOL, my arms - owch! The veggie
garden has exploded with green beans, and, I found a
few more green bell peppers, as well. The tomato plants
are loaded, and, I keep threatening to sneak out and pick
a few green ones to fry - Yum!
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday evening!

Thanks! I took one donut and ate it really fast before Crouton could sneak up and grab it.
Sounds like your garden is growing well. Everything seems to be doing well here, except the corn. It took a beating after the storm. Oh, and the peach tree which had a late freeze. Still a few peaches, but not many.

Hello Everyone
Toby Keith was in town Thursday night at Country USA in Oshkosh. Although I didn't get a chance to see him, Kylene and Mike did....and thankfully, Ky had a riot and made her relax! Read on!
Kylene and Mike were married yesterday and from about 11am til the wee hours of Sunday morning, we were at the wedding/ reception. My mom is Ky's second mom...which means we are practically family. Shorty, whom was one of the best men, give the reverend (kylene's uncle) a cigar ring instead of the actual wedding ring, but he checked his pockets again and found the actual ring. It was quite funny! Mike did ok, but it was Ky's turn...she dropped Mike's ring. It was a laugh, but it needed to happen! In order for Mike and Ky to kiss, banging glasses was not an option. So, what they did is draw names out of a bag and that couple, along with Mike and Ky had to kiss (this happened at my cousins wedding, so I thought it was fitting). We tricked the couples to believe that their were door prizes, which in turn, made them enter their names. We're sneaky! To make matters even more of a riot, for the grand march, the guys put bras on (and stuffed them), and the ladies put boxers on (they cut the butt out). Mike has been known to wear Kalyn's bras (Kalyn is ky's younger sister)...so we HAD to do the grand marsh like that! You should have seen the look on Ky's face...it was priceless! I didn't get home til almost 2am! We passed a few sobriety tests on the side of the road...but thankfully, we didn't get pulled over.
As for Sunday, I almost went up to Campus (UWGB) to see the Broadway play called Grease...yup, its the play production of the movie. Because the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts is on campus, we get student rush tix for 75% off the original price. They pay $60 per tix we pay around $15 (with valid student ID). But I needed to get my wash done and to get ready for my lovely 2 hour drive from Menasha to Milwaukee.
Dennis, do you need the AC yet? You're definitely in the Summer months now!
Garrett...I still have the free version of limewire, but I will not upgrade to the pro version.

Hello Porch Friends!
Shannon - you sure do go to some fun weddings!
Dennis - I hope you had a great visit with your daughter! How long is she there?
Another beautiful day today. I did alot of work outside again and sat in the sun for some color. Actually, I'm replacing the boards in our bench and cleaning and repainting the iron bench frame. I bought it at a yard sale for $5 about 10 years ago. I had painted the boards green back then and it sat on our covered porch in our old house. Now, it's been exposed to the outside elements, so the paint has peeled and the boards rotted. I'm just going to put polyurethane on them.
I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Hello everyone! Back from vacation and trying to play catch-up here on the boards. It's not easy!!! Shannon, that wedding sounds wacky but so much fun! BTW, we loved your state. Door County is very scenic. Toured one lighthouse inside and out. Another one (Cana Island) we could tour the grounds and a few surrounding buildings but not inside the actual lighthouse. I can understand why they're mostly off limits to the public. They do need to be preserved for future generations. My daughter Laura could have eaten Frozen Custard every day. Me? I opted for the many homemade ice cream flavors. Good eating up there - I think I put on 5-10 pounds. LOL Will have to hit the treadmill this week, that's for sure. We didn't veer off Interstates much since we wanted to get there ASAP and the trip still took 11 hours from Cincinnati! I'm still trying to completely unpack and finish up remaining laundry to do.
Nice to be back. Did I miss anything around here last week? Noticed we are voting for June MOTM now. Think this time I'll sit back and let the others nominate. But I will vote - count on me for that.
Raine - how is Dakota feeing these days?
Dennis - hope you enjoyed your time with your daughter.
Stephanie - you sound quite handy with household repairs. Come teach me a thing or two will ya? LOL I'm looking forward to getting back into my yardwork and we want to put down new floorboards on our deck this summer. The original ones are so rotted out. Jim wants a trex deck, but we can't build benches to match out of trex. We might have to settle for part wood and part trex. Our deck takes a beating from the southern sun in the summer, that's why he wants low maintainence materials.
Hi's to anyone I missed!!! And oh Karan - oh, Karan you out there - I sure could use a cup of Earl Grey right now!
Finally, Shannon it was 53 when we left Wisconsin on Saturday morning! Now that's chilly for June, but actually I loved it. My family grumbled but I'm really not a summer person.

Mary, It was probably raining too! How did you like the heat during the week? (85+ degree days???) FYI...how was the construction heading into Green Bay and in Door County???? Its' that time of the year. Did you guys get a chance to head up to Sturgeon Bay or Washington Island? The best time to head to Door County is the fall........its even more scenic!

Shannon - yes it was raining while temps hovered near 53. Brrr! We knew though it was bound to warm up and it did (as we kept driving south). The heat spell you mentioned Door County had last week was actually quite pleasant to us! We tend to have very hot and muggy summers here, especially in July and August. Sometimes the two combined, high temps and high humidity levels, are almost like opening an oven door when you walk outside. It hits you smack in the face! So when shop clerks (we did quite a bit of that, Nina's favorite thing to do at 16) would apologize for the heat - I wanted to say oh please don't, we're from Cincinnati. So it was very nice actually - hanging by the outdoor pool, even though heated, was perfect. Jim said we couldn't have done that had it been in the 60s. We did tour Washington Island and went on the "train". Didn't quite care for the exotic animal farm we toured (I'm getting very wacky in my old age about caged animals, I believe they now belong in their natural habitat). We could have passed on that. The owner was all upset about WI soon to pass a ban on owning exotic animals. He said well I'll get off my soapbox now and I wanted to say - and I'll get up on mine! But I didn't. My entire family just kept looking at me - as I was going to cause a scene. Washington I. was very rural, and a nice chance of pace. We wished we had taken our car over and toured the island on our own all day. Nina smiled at the HS graduating class this year - 5 graduates! Now that's small. We did go to into Sturgeon Bay and visited the Maritime Museum. A highlight for Jim and Laura - both into sailing and boats. I wished I had known where the best section of S. Bay was - it was big! We drove around but after awhile missed our little and quaint Fish Creek (where we stayed). And finally Shannon - I'm very impressed by your state's Recycling Efforts!!! Our condo had signs up - you are required by law to recycle....no problem here, we do it at home. Instructions on where and in what container to put cardboard, paper, plastic, cans. Several times thru the week I said OH has to start doing this. Another soapbox topic for me (I have quite a few!!!). A very enjoyable trip Shannon! Highly recommend this area to anyone who wants to see lighthouses, rocky or sandy beaches, quaint villages, sailing/boating, etc. Would love to go back another time.

So glad Door County was a treat for the family...in more ways than one. Frozen custards and more!!! Fall is a beautiful time...but it is also one of the more crowded times. Like New England.
Shannon...you have fun wherever you go. That must have been quite a wedding! BTW Grease is going to be in Phoenix in January. Tickets go on sale in August. We may decide to check it out.
Dennis...if your daughter looks tall to you, she really must have shot up over the last six months. Not a little girl any longer.
Stephanie...isn't it nice to be able to be outside and enjoy the nice weather? We're more confined in summer, but the other 8 months of the year are great.
And yes...we did hit 111 yesterday Dennis. But I too can see signs of the monsoon beginning to crank up. Now hat will mean temps in the low 100's and humidities increasing. Those days are hot, too!
Have a nice week everyone....in preparation for the 4th. All of you in harms way of Bill the TS, stay safe and don't wash away!!

Morning everyone!
It is great to see the Front Porch so active. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well, too!
I forgot to mention on Saturday that I got my autographed picture from Kim Perez. For those of you who did not know, TWC OCM Kim Perez has battled back from cancer. I am not 100% sure what type of cancer it was... maybe someone (like Dennis or Tracy) has more information. To watch her and to realize what she has been through, I am amazed!
Dennis -- I absolutely adore Flagstaff! We used to make the annual trip to Lake Havasu City/Parker each Thanksgiving to visit my great-aunt. I would always make them go through Flagstaff. I love that town!
Miss Mary, glad to hear that you had a great vacation!
I have never been to Wisconsin, but would like to go sometime.
Steve, you stay cool all right?
Have a good day (even if it is Monday).

I'm glad you enjoyed Washington Island along with the sights and sounds of Door County. There was a guy from Washington Island in my American Indian Class freshman year at UWGB...he graduated with 8 people in his class. Right now, with the monkeypox thing going on, Wisconsin is trying to ban the sale of exotic animals....its only precautionary. Oh yea, recycling! We do have plenty of that!!!! For those of you that don't know, Wisconsin is leading the nation in recycling. People are always amazed because recycling is so prevelent in today's society. Like Mary said, There are signs around the bins to tell what goes where, and what not to recycle. Come to campus once, there are recycling bins right along with the actual garbage bins...which I might add are everywhere! People on campus (UWGB) are extremely leary of the bins and thankfully do recycle plastics, cans, paper, etc. Again, I'm glad you had a wonderful vacation, and enjoyed the sights of Door County.
Poppysky....Grease is a WONDERFUL play....go see it! I highly recommend it.

Shannon - that's impressive that Wisconsin is leading the nation in recycling. I noticed labeled bins all over the place. When we'd finish drinking a water bottle, we'd keep it with us until we found a recycling bin. Once I had carried around Laura's empty root beer bottle thinking we'd see a bin. The next stop, what else - ice cream shop - gladly took the bottle for recycling. Sorry to go on so much about this topic, but it is a serious concern. We live in such a throw away world and when we'd go on vacation, I'd feel guilty for a week, not being able to recycle properly. Not so in WI! I credit my recycling awareness to Nina's former 5th Grade Science teacher. He opened our eyes to the ever growing waste problem in this country.

Good Afternoon!
Wx247 - I think that Kim Perez had cancer of the thyroid. I believe it was diagnosed soon after she gave birth.
Miss Mary - glad you had a great time! I've never heard of trex - is it a composit material like a mixture of plastic and wood? I'm sure that the summer sun/heat does take a toll on the wooden decks - not to mention the staining, etc.
It's a hot one today. We normally don't put our air conditioner on unless the humidity is up there and it's around 90 degrees or so. You just can't beat fresh air! Just before I left the house though, our electricity went out so I hope that it came back on quickly! :o
It is wonderful to be outside Steve. Last summer it was just too darn hot and dry to even want to go out and do anything. I love my little backyard "Oasis".
Well, better get back to work! Talk to you later!

Good Day everyone!
I, like many of us were yesterday and last night, was monitoring Tropical Storm Bill. It looked like the storm was slowing down around midnight Eastern Time, but apparently didn't. The current projected track is interesting... still a sharp turn to the east, off the southeastern United States coast. It will be fun to watch what it will do as I (we) track it.
Mary, I am glad you had a nice trip in Wisconsin. Did you see any cranberry bogs? Southeastern Massachusetts has a lot of them... there are not too far from where I used to live to the south and east (mainly east) -- through Carver, Plympton and Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Ocean Spray Headquarters weren't far from my house in Bridgewater, MA on the Middleboro-Lakeville line.
Shannon, do you pass cranberry bogs often? I am sure you come across them as you go about your business in eastern Wisconsin.
Yes, I remember hearing that Kim Perez had thyroid cancer. I heard that she came back and was doing much better. Nice to hear.
Of course, northern New England (across the Appalachians) gets the crowds for those interested in seeing the leaves in autumn... not so much in southern New England (across southern and southeastern Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island).
Have a great Monday everyone!
