Hey everyone - say a prayer for Tracy/TLC will you? Her area, Cynthiana, KY has a tornado warning right now. A county to her south-west, I'm estimating, was hit by a tornado in the past 30 minutes. Praying for you Tracy! Check in when you can!!! I know you're taking shelter, as I would too. Take care, my friend.

Heard from Tracy - she's okay! She said tornadoes were all around her area last night. And one was headed right for them. But it suddenly turned south. Thank God! Tracy said she and her family stayed at her parents house until 1 a.m. However pictures/reports coming out of Lexington, KY are terrible. We need to pray for those folks.....
Well, just wanted to update you all - T's fine.

Thank GOD! I thought about her last night...I heard there were tornadoes to the south and suddenly thought...OMG I got friends down there! Good to hear she's ok...
The storms last night ravaged Henry County, KY where looking at the video on the news, I'd have to estimate that that was an F3 or maybe weak F4(winds of 158 to maybe 220 mph)...another storm hit the W portion of the city of Lexington, KY(possibly the one that just missed TLC's location?)...that looks like possible F2 or F3 (wind speed of 113 to 206 mph) damage as well...the last possible tornado I know of hit Brown County, Ohio...that one looks to me like F0 or F1 (could have had winds up to 112 mph) damage...official reports later this afternoon should tell us more about the situation.

PS - BTW, I never know how to spell the plural form of tornado! Is is - tornadoes? Or - tornado's? I've seen both forms used in articles. I say it's oes, since potato in plural is potatoes. LOL

T - I'm movin' rightch wiff ya.....LOL Speaking your lingo here.....
Crazy night here. We had 2 Grad parties. One on our street. Came home to regroup and head out for a family party in Glendale (a northern suburb, up near Kings Island almost, or at least it feels that far north for me!). I confiscated the remote, changed channels to local ones long enough to check on watches/watchings. I kept telling my family early on, that Tornado Watch will be extended this way. Sure enough, it was for my county and even east of me! When we arrived at the family party, skies were clear. Sun broke out a few times. I mentioned to a few people that we had a Tornado Watch - they looked at me like I was some wx geek. Mmmm, I take offense to that reaction....he he But I was going to head for that basement if I heard anything sounding like a train. And oh a real train track is close to this home, so that would have been quite confusing. Can see the headlings - family party, 40 perish b/c they thought it was a real train. But we came home before anything started up - after midnight. Whew, but like you Tracy, we were up until at least 1:30. I was dosing on the couch, sirens went off very early. Had one child out at a friends house - yes she went off to hang out with friends at 10:30! Teens. Called her friend's house at 11:50, asked if Nina was heading home, as sirens were going off. Sure enough the parents there were sending her home already - just want all my chicks home, mother duck that I am. Hubby is snoozing in bed, upstairs - huh, what siren, Tornado Watch, Severe Thunderstorm Warning??? I tell you, if we ever have something severe hit here, God Forbid, my hubby will not be in the basement!!!
So today I'm bleary eyed, very tired. We got at best 6 hours of sleep - just like a school day and it's a blasted Holiday for Pete's Sake!!! LOL I need more coffee or a nap, or BOTH!

Wow. T and Mary, ya'll had some scares, huh? I've never heard a tornado siren go off, I know I'd loose it. We had tornados in Shreveport, saw them, but no siren system...thats got to be an eerie sound!
We had a mellow weekend...quite enjoyable...the kids went some neighbors Memorial Day cook outs with friends, and we all went swimming with various people in their pools. We ended up hosting a cookout yesterday with all the kids friends...a day of water balloon fights, etc...lol
We ended up placing our beloved Aussie, Maxwell with a man who has a 10 acre ranch outside of town...(He had been very destructive, and eaten up the wires to our a/c system, among other things) and we were afraid that he would do it again when the a/c is on and get fried...so, this man wanted him...Max got to the ranch and played with the other huge 120 lb. dogs for a while, but then he got real scared at nightfall...there is a pack od coyotes that roam near the mans ranch and they scared the daylights out of Max...he ende up hiding in the garage under the mans truck...awwww I was missing him, it wasn't the same not having him here, even though he was a bad dog sometime...so the man called and said Max missed his family and wasn't working out for him. We got Max back yesterday...much to hubby's dismay, but the kids and I are so glad to have him home...this dog has 9 lives...so many times we were going to return him to the pound...then he definitely wasn't going to make the move out here with us...etc etc...and here he lies now, on a comfy padded chair on my back patio...pray for the new plants we bought, they are his favorite snack!
Well, it's just under 2 weeks til the kids and I head to FLorida for part of the summer...wish I was excited...(Gonna miss my hubby).
We went to a drive in movie lastnight in Riverside and saw Mean Girls, and Troy...We just LOVE drive ins! Troy was an excellent movie, Brad Pitt looks incredible, and did his best acting yet...
Have a good week everyone!

It's a VERY eerie sound Shannon...BELIEVE me!
I like Mary was under a thunderstorm warning at around 12am Monday am...THEN the sirens went off...I fairly RAN (and I can't use my legs so I'm speaking relatively here) down to the basement...we stayed there, me and one brother and my sister until about 1am...the power did go out during that time, but other than one light that popped after lightning struck it, nothing...NOW I'm at the library and the lights just flickered with a storm RIGHT on top of me...I am OUTTA here! Before I do...

Sure seems like some states never get the break from the severe wx of late
...heart, prayers and thoughts go out to ALL affected this past weekend...one particular area Marengo, IN...my Mom, who is from Gibson Co IN...used to often visit Marengo during her growing up years...and there's a cave there, too, which is a popular tourist attraction.
Shannon, sounds like Max needs some obedience school training...I wish you and your family the continued best with him!
I don't stop by here that often...but have a GREAT June, EveryWxone!
God Bless,
Eric

We're still floating away here... rivers have run over their banks..... new lakes have formed! We've seen rain for the past 2 weeks (on and off some days) For a while there, the bright yellow thing in the sky never appeared.... doom and gloom around here. We had the 2nd wettest May on record!
My little dorky brother graduates from High School on Thursday... scary.... the real world isn't ready for him!
I have my first drill this weekend.. 5-6 Jun. I'll see when I get there how everything goes. I'm only going down to Milwaukee for the weekend, but 2 hours away from Appleton.

Now I know where all the rain is!!! POJO quit being a rain hog!!!
My wife has memories of the sirens going off in OKC when she was young and lived there. Houston used to have Civil Defense sirens that went off at noon every Friday. I FREAKED the first time I heard them and didn't have any idea what they were(Friday at noon). We haven't had them for years now. We have no warning system except for local media outlets now and of course my trusty NOAA radio.
Glad everyone got through everything OK!! BTW, those that want to move to Alaska might want to reconsider. They had a severe thunderstorm warning going on at the same time everything was hitting in the lower 48(at least on Monday).
In Houston we have hit summer big time with highs of 96º and 95º with more expected along with our Heat indexes in the 100º-110º range. Can you say BRUTAL and we aren't even to the hot part of summer yet.
Well, everyone take care and POJO send rain!!!! I gotta act like I'm working here for a while.

Eric, Both those places are close to me, especially Gibson Co. They got clobbered with storms yesterday, but I haven't heard any injuries or damage reports. I want to take a trip to Marengo Caves sometime this summer. Heard it's pretty neat.
The kids and I are getting ready to drive to Tampa tomorrow to visit Mom for a week. She's not expecting us until Saturday, so I'm looking forward to surprising her a couple days early. Gotta keep her on her toes!
Have a great week, gang! I'll probably check in from down there occasionally to get my S2K fix.

Donna - my father-in-law lives near Tampa, at Indian Rocks Beach. He purchased a two bedroom condo when the multi-unit building was built - early 70s? A few years ago he finally retired full time down there. He loves the entire area. We've visited him many times thru the years. Many residents of this condo building live in Tampa and come out on weekends. Sure is a drive from here though - 16 hours! Enjoy your trip.

It is obvious to those of us in the Southwest that the storms are wet and wild everywhere else. Bright sunshine and full moonlit nights here. About 107 each afternoon with dry air and 70 in the morning.
Those tornado days are scary for sure, and among the worst are those that come at sunset. Still to this day remember the Barneveld, Wisconsin, tornado that demolished that little town about midnight in early June. Hope things settle down to good old popcorn variety storms over the rest of the summer and we can instead keep our eyes on the tropics.
Good to see everyone here is safe, though, in spite of the destructive tornado season thus far. Frazzled nerves and sleepless hours are small sacrifice to anything that hits for real.
We could flirt with 110 this afternoon. Been watching some baby birds in the back yard who have access to shade but can not yet fly. 110 has to make their little hearts race.
Congrats to your little bro Pojo.
