What are you watching this summer?
Moderator: S2k Moderators
The Office - Dunder Mifflin's new website (which was non-existent since 2002) goes up tonight. This should be a really funny episode! Considering the boss drove his car into a pond last week, all b/c he listened to his car's GPS device. After his car went in the water, she told him - make a U turn if possible. LOL!
Well, anyway, we find this show funny each week.

Ugly Betty... HILARIOUS.
Grey's Anatomy... pretty good with lots of funny stuff but next week looks SPECTACULAR. Callie vs. Izzie!
God Big Shots SUCKS. I want this show gone. It is ruining my Thursday TV.

Re: What are you watching this Fall?
Ugly Betty and Big Shots(surprisingly) both went up over last week(though Big Shots still had a massive half-hour drop, likely due to Grey's running til 10:03), The gap between CSI and Grey's is closing and I expect Grey's to top it outright again before sweeps. ER is DEAD! I expect a cancellation notice anytime now.

LOL, I agree. My mom used to watch it religiously but 2 weeks ago when it premiered she said "that show is still on?!"

Tonight I'm trying to expand my type of shows I watch. I'm checking out Women's Murder Club on ABC at 9. Think Desperate Housewives but the 4 women are murder investigators and without the hilarious stuff. Yeah. The reviews range from decent to absolutely horrific. My expectations are very low(ok non-existent) considering Friday is so boring. After that, I'll be watching the long-awaited return of Men in Trees at 10(it's been off the air since March, not usually a good sign), but if WMC can garner an audience(CSI started on Fridays at 9 and look how that went), that will help.

Well tonight was surprising...
Women's Murder Club=Really good. I'll definitely be watching again.
Men in Trees=First half hour lacked something big time but the last half hour was great and the ending was awesome.

I tried to get into Men in Trees last year but the handful of episodes we watched, just made us miss Northern Exposure! This Alaskan show concept was already done and done very well - NE!
Then when Anne Heche left her husband for her handsome co-star, well, there was no turning back for this potential MIT fan!
Sorry, but that's my take on the show!

Re: What are you watching this Fall?
Friday Viewers Embrace 'Murder,' CBS
'Ghost Whisperer' and 'Numb3rs' are strong for CBS
October 13, 2007
ABC's new drama "Women's Murder Club" had a big Friday night premiere, but not big enough to push ABC into first place for the night.
CBS won the night overall with a 5.5 rating/10 share, followed closely by ABC's 5.4/10. NBC's 4.9/9 and FOX's 4.8/9 battled for third, leaving The CW in fifth with a 2.6/5.
With a 2.3 rating, CBS also won the 18-49 demographic. FOX was second with a 2.2 rating, leaving NBC and ABC to tie for third with a 2.0 rating. The CW again trailed with a 1.4 rating.
NBC started the night in first with a 6.4/12 for "Deal or No Deal." CBS' "Ghost Whisperer" was second with a 5.7/10, followed by FOX's telecast of the American League Championship Series game between the Red Sox and Indians. ABC's "20/20" was fourth, while The CW's "WWE Friday Night Smackdown!" had a 2.4/4 for fifth.
At 9 p.m., the premiere of "Women's Murder Club" did a 7.3/13, handily winning the hour and taking viewers away from CBS' "Moonlight" (4.6/8) and NBC's "Friday Night Lights" (3.6/6), which both also finished behind FOX's baseball for the hour. The CW's wrestling remained stable.
CBS won the 10 p.m. hour with a 6.0/11 for "Numb3rs." The premiere of ABC's "Men in Trees" had a 4.9/9 to edge NBC's "Las Vegas."
WOW... I am shocked at Women's Murder Club. I thought it could win the timeslot but this was a HUGE victory. I think Moonlight and FNL are dead. Why did CBS cancel Close to Home?
Men in Trees did about the numbers it did last season, but with the big lead-in it's disappointing.

If anyone is an ER fan, here's some good news for you:

Yes George Clooney, we ER fans do need you. But you probably don't need us.....sigh. I would love for a Doug Ross cameo appearance before the show finishes its 13 year run......but it's highly unlikely a well known movie star would reprise his TV role....the one that really put him on that map.
But for now we'll take Carter and Jeannie!

People still watch ER?

I really expect this to be the last season. The ratings are just awful and this is like the 300th season anyway.
Don't forget! Desperate Housewives tonight!

"and you're trying to make up for it by breastfeeding him?"

Oh and there's going to be an AWESOME Halloween episode on November 4th. I'll say only three words: Andrew in drag. It is PRICELESS. Also ahead in a future episode(not tonight): A surprise visitor discovers Bree's pregnancy is a hoax, and a tornado hits Wisteria Lane! There will also be the annual November Sweeps death.

LOL - This is going to be ER's last season Brent. he he
Yes this show has gone on too long but since I've watched from day one, I can't quit on it. But this ER just feels like a different show than when it premiered. Except for one or two familiar faces, most are new characters not around in it's hey day - the first 4 or 5 seasons. At one time, ER was among the top 10 and it was watched by many. A gripping show in its prime. I started many a Friday morning, tired from staying up but I had to stay up b/c the show would be discussed the next day, by so many people!
You weren't even born then probably....or if you were, you were a baby!
And well, back then they had George Clooney.....I rest my case. But I will not stop watching, I'm staying with ER until they close the doors of County General.

Re: What are you watching this Fall?
WOW... what can I say? Desperate Housewives is ROCKING this year. Tonight was incredible. I've given all three episodes so far 10/10's and tonight may have even been better than that. The charades party was awesome and I wish they'd have them more often, as was Stella's pot brownies, and the gyno Bree "recommended". I wish she'd just tell everyone the truth already! Loved Gablos as usual and looking forward to a lot more. I knew it! The guy Carlos is talking to is an accountant, not a hitman, though I wish he was. Ugh, Edie can die for all I care. What in the WORLD happened in that room at Katherine's house?
Brothers and Sisters was great but not very funny. The Justin storyline was amazing.

Question, what is up with the accountant thing?
Edie found out that Carlos had money in an offshore account from apparently a long time ago(probably when he got in trouble in Season 1/2), and she was using that to keep them together.
Last week at the end we saw Carlos pay that guy money to "take care of Edie". Many people thought he was a hitman but I didn't because A. Carlos wouldn't resort to that so quickly and B. Carlos's hidden money had been an issue in the episode. It appears the guy was hired to move the money. If the money is not there, then there's no reason for Carlos to stay with her.
The first ever gay couple on the show arrives next week! "I've seen a lot of cable so I get it" "I hope we can live up to your stereotype" LOL and what the heck does Gaby do to Victor? A "zoo in his pants?"(I think that's what she says), and Carlos is right there next to her whispering about it that they are screwed at a speech Victor is giving. How strange.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMt8NPCtbt4 A little messed up, stupid DVD crashed so I had to tape the end and of course it had problems.

I've only watched 3/4 of the show. Dang it (daughter had a ton of homework to catch up on last night).....so we watched as much as we could before she went off to school this morning.
Horray - we got to see Andrew again. I knew as soon as Lynette's mom was trying to score weed, LOL - it was going to be Andrew on the other side of the camera angle. I've missed him!
Can't stand Victor. He's just wrong for Gabby. Temporary husband that he is....
Edie - can't stand her either Brent. Hey, let's fix her up with Victor? We could kill two birds with one stone....
Lynette - too funny. That hilarious chirade scene reminded me of when she danced on the nightclub bar when she was out with her boss Nina. When Lynette cuts loose she cuts loose!
I thought I was going to hate her mom but that was pretty funny last night.
Did you also catch mere seconds of Kayla? Yes that actress is still on the payroll. You'd think she'd be worried about Lynette, after losing her mom last season. More worried than the other kids I mean....
I'll comment more when we watch the entire episode. I hate watching shows in pieces!

Re: What are you watching this Fall?
Fast National ratings for Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007
The National Football League was a boon to CBS Sunday, but NBC's prime-time game of the week suffered some of its lowest ratings ever.
CBS won the night with an 11.4 rating/18 share (with those numbers subject to change thanks to live football). ABC finished second at 8.1/13, while NBC managed only a 5.3/8 for the night. FOX, 3.8/6, came in fourth, while The CW was barely there at 0.8/1.
The adults 18-49 crown also went to CBS, which drew a 5.0 rating in the demographic. ABC took second at 4.6. NBC, 3.3, beat out FOX, 3.0, for third, while The CW fell well below the 1.0 mark.
CBS' coverage of the week's marquee NFL game, New England at Dallas, scored a 16.6/28 at 7 p.m., easily beating the combined totals for the other four networks. ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos," 4.9/9, was the best of the rest. "Football Night in America" earned a 3.2/5 for NBC. Reruns of "King of the Hill" and "The Simpsons" averaged 2.7/5 for FOX. The CW aired "CW Now" and "Online Nation."
At 8 p.m., "60 Minutes" kept CBS on top with an 11.4/18. ABC held onto second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7.3/11. "Sunday Night Football" was well below its average on NBC. FOX went "The Simpsons," 5.1/8, and "King of the Hill," 4.3/7, while "Life Is Wild" registered only a 0.7/1 for The CW.
ABC took the lead at 9 p.m. with "Desperate Housewives," 11.7/18. CBS dropped to second with "Cold Case," 9.6/14. "Sunday Night Football" improved some to 6.4/10 for NBC. "Family Guy," 4.4/7, and "American Dad," 3.9/6, kept FOX in fourth. The CW finished its night with an "America's Next Top Model" rerun.
"Brothers & Sisters," 8.5/14, won the 10 p.m. hour for ABC. CBS' "Shark" posted a 7.9/13, while NBC's NFL coverage fell back to 5.7/10.
NBC's football game bombed... LOL. Meanwhile, DH was higher than last week!
Hopefully more people come back next week, there is nearly universal LOVE for last night's episode. The CW once again just needs to disappear. No one's gonna miss it anyway.

21 Shark 07.9/13 ABC Sunday
22 Boston Legal 07.5/13 ABC Tuesday

Grey's only beat DH by 100,000 viewers, the closest margin in a long time(possibly since Grey's moved to Thursdays).
TIVO numbers are out for premiere week... nothing that shocking and no really huge gains.
In viewers:
(1) Grey's (+2 mil)
(2) CSI (+1.9 mil)
(3) Heroes (+1.9 mil)
(4) House (+1.9 mil)
(5) CSI: Miami (+1.2 mil)
(6) Criminal Minds (+1.2 mil)
(7) Bionic Woman (+1.2 mil)
(8) Office (+1.2 mil)
(9) Numbers (+1.1 mil)
(10) Journeyman (+1 mil)
(11) NCIS (+1 mil)
(12) Private Practice (+1 mil)
(13) CSI: NY (+1 mil)
(14) Cane (+1 mil)
(15) Desperate Housewives (+1 mil)
Don't forget! Tonight after DWTS is the premiere of Samantha Who? with Christina Applegate and Jean Smart. It looks interesting but I hear it's not that funny.
