And if my time on earth where through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past ganna be enough to last
If tommorow never comes.

It's too hot to fish
Too hot for golf
And too cold at home

I didn't want to post the whole song, so I just picked out a few segments of it. This song popped in my head earlier today so I went to WinMx and downloaded it. Forgot how much I liked it. lol
I hadn't heard it in a while.

How do rumors get started, they’re started by the jealous people and
They get mad seein’ somethin’ they had and sombody else is holdin’
Tell me that temptation is very hard to resist
But these wicked women, ooh, they just persist
Maybe you think it’s cute, but girl, I’m not impressed
I tell you one time only with my business please don’t mess

~~~~~~
I can’t go no place without somebody pointin’ a finger
I can’t show my face ‘cause when it comes to rumors I’m a dead ringer
It seems from rumors I just can’t get away
I bet there’ll even be rumors floatin’ around on Judgment Day
I’ll think I’ll write my congressman and tell him to pass a bill
For the next time they catch somebody startin’ rumors, shoot to kill
~~~~~~

Stop (Stop) spreadin’ those rumors around
Stop (Stop) spreadin’ the lies
Stop (Stop) spreadin’ those rumors around
Stop (Stop) spreadin’ the lies

~~~~~~
'Rumors' - Timex Social Club
I ain't country...but there WAS a song recently that captured my attention, based on my childhood...
"Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't take your pleasure
From my pain
In God's eyes
We are all the same
Some day, we'll all be wearing wings
Don't laugh at me."
"I do believe anger is offset by sorrow
What you destroy today, you might regret tomorrow.
When you're young and defensive it comes off offensive
and it's hard to repay the tolerance that you borrowed. . ."
I remember when no one was lookin'
I was puttin' peanuts in my Coke.
I took a lot of kiddin' cause I never did fit it
Now look at everybody tryin' to be what I was then
I was country when country wasn't cool! :)
I believe that Mark Wills sang that one. It's a tear jerker for sure!
We'll put a boot in your ***
It's the American way.
Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list
and the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist
and the Eagle will fly and it's gonna be he**
when you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you courtesy of the Red White and Blue!
Kelly - I remember that song from the Timex Social Club. I believe the watch-maker 'Timex' forced them to change their name to "The Social Club" because 'Timex' is a registered trademark.
here's another good one that I like from Huey Lewis and the News...song is called "Couple Days Off"...
Don't mind telling you I get a little mad
To get a bit ahead takes all the time I have
Don't misunderstand me
I'm not getting soft
All I want is a couple days off
You and me both Tim. I didn't know there was anything else until I was 9, I think. THe year would be 1979. My mom ran out to the store and I decided to change the channel back at home. I heard Pink Floyd, The Wall. I was never the same again. But I still go back to my roots. :D
I listened to Country Music off and on during the 70's. I listened to the Bee Gees, Seals and Croft, England Dan and John Ford Coley, and folks along those lines, too. Now I mainly listen to Southern Gospel Music.
Dear Anthony, In honor of your good taste ... a nice winter song from "The Wall". :)
"The Thin Ice"
If you should go skating
On the thin ice of modern life
Dragging behind you the silent reproach
Of a million tear-stained eyes
Don't be surprised when a crack in the ice
Appears under your feet.
You slip out of your depth and out of your mind
With your fear flowing out behind you
As you claw the thin ice.
Speaking of country...how about Steve Warriner's song...
One day shy of eight years old When grandma passed away
I was a broken-hearted little boy Blowing out that birthday cake
How I cried when the sky let go With the cold and lonesome rain
Momma smiled said don't be sad child Grandma's watching you today
'Cause there's holes in the floor of heaven
And her tears are pourin' down
That's how you know she's watchin'
Wishin' she could be here now
And someitmes if you're lonely
Just remember she can see
There's holes in the floor of heaven and she's
Watchin' over you and me
Seasons come and seasons go Nothing stays the same
I grew up, fell in love Met a girl who took my name
Year by year we made a life In this sleepy little town
I thought we'd grow old together Lord I sure do miss her now
But there's holes in the floor of heaven
And her tears are pourin' down
That's how I know she's watchin'
Wishin' she could be here now
And sometimes when I'm lonely
I remember she can see
There's holes in the floor of heaven and she's
Watchin' over you and me
Well my little girl is 23 I walk her down the aisle
It's a shame her mom can't be here now To see her lovely smile
They throw the rice, I catch her eye
As the rain starts comin' down
She takes my hand and says Daddy don't be sad
'Cause I know Momma's watchin' now
And there's holes in the floor of heaven
And her tears are pourin' down
That's how you know she's watchin'
Wishin' she could be here now
And sometimes when you're lonely
Just remember she can see
Yeah there's holes in the floor of heaven and she's
Watchin' over you and me
One more country song and then I'll move on...
Brad Paisley's He Didn't Have To Be...
When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new
It always winds up feeling more like a job interview
My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone
Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run
I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old
He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go
A few months later I remember lying there in bed
I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes
And then all of a sudden
Oh, it seemed so strange to me
How we went from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' back all I can say
About all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
I met the girl that's now my wife about three years ago
We had the perfect marriage but we wanted somethin' more
Now here I stand surrounded by our family and friends
Crowded 'round the nursery window as they bring the baby in
And now all of a sudden
It seemed so strange to me
How we've gone from something's missing
To a family
