Brent - they sure seem to be bending over backwards to accommodate such conditions. Poor Marcia Cross though. You know she'd like to report to work. It's pretty cool when work reports to you!

I sincerely hope all goes well with her pregnancy and the twins are healthy - that is the important thing here.

Yeah they do... I find it so cool also that they are turning her house into Bree's house. I can't wait to see if the viewers can tell a difference.

But they really didn't have much choice. She was already showing big time in Sunday's episode(and that was filmed in Mid-November!). Short of drastically changing plots at the last minute, this was really their only option.

I hope everything goes well with her pregnancy too.

Sneak peek for Sunday. Susan overhears Austin and Julie talking about birth control and it ends with a typical Susan moment.

Thanks for the reminder Brent. Feels like a Friday around here, since tomorrow is a holiday. We might even make some popcorn!

Who all do you think Gabby's secret admirer will be? I think it will be an old boyfriend, from before Carlos. Hopefully Carlos will get jealous and he and Gabby will get back together.

BTW, is her name Gaby or Gabby? LOL

Obviously, I thought of John. But he isn't that much younger than Gabby is he? I read it might be Zach.

It's not John(he's gone for good I think). He plays a teenager but is really 24(or something like that). It is Zach.

I freaking love creepy Alma and that whole scene with Bree finding the teeth. I turned off 24 for that.

Oh yeah and ROFL at Lynette showing her boobs to that old guy...

I'm trying to figure out Alma's motive. I'll watch the entire episode and then post my thoughts, but my initial thinking is that she's trying to split Bree and Orson up(by trying to show Bree Orson killed Monique), but I think it might backfire.

Just finished watching... an excellent episode, one of the best of the season.

Favorite quote:

"So, we're not having sex?"
"You banned me from your opening"

:roflmao:!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Julie... and poor Susan for having to be the one to tell her. I'm surprised they didn't let the plot with Austin/Danielle together go on longer. I enjoyed seeing Edie more this episode.

Carlos and Gabby need to be together. Zach looked creepy and so much different. I do not like him with Gabby. Oh yeah, and he needs to spend some money and get a haircut!

Really really REALLY interested in where the Bree/Orson/Alma plot goes. Where is Gloria? Next week I *hope* that's Alma seducing Orson...

I loved Lynette tonight. Telling Tom he wasn't a loser and going out and getting that liquor license and other stuff for him. She was pretty funny at the old man's house. Interesting that Andrew appears to be working at the restaurant.

Where was Ian? Not that I missed him...

Good episode tonight. Loved Lynette's trick to get the resident to sign the liquor license waver. And Mrs McCluskey giving her advice. Those two together are so fun to watch. So it seems that Orson didn't actually kill Monique. Are we to believe that Alma did it or Orson's mother? I'm sorry, but there's just far too much mystery with Orson. He not only would have been asked to leave as he was but by now I'd have annullment proceedings in the works. Ah, but this is a TV show, not real life.

Brent - as soon as I saw Zach's long hair and how different he looked, I thought of Ozzy from Survivor. Seriously! Think I watch too much TV or what? LOL

Yes, Carlos and Gabby belong together. You can see how the writers are paving the way for them to find their way back to eachother. It will be fun to watch. I never thought I'd be interested in a Gabrielle storyline but I am.

Poor Julie. Her heart is broken now.

It was nice having an episode without Kayla. I half expected her to foil Lynette's attempts to help Tom out.

And I missed Ian too.

I think Alma killed Monique and will try to kill Bree which would put Bree in the hospital in a coma about the time the babies are born!!!!lol Anyway that's my take on it.

Brent, my favorite line was also Lynette banning Tom from her opening. ROTFLMBO
Also, I loved Mrs. McCluskey remarking about cutting off certain appendages and the juggling them!!!

I still like Orson. I think he's just been a victim of several very sneaky and manipulative women.

Desperate Housewives
by Dave Anderson

January 14, 2007: Not While I'm Around

First thing I need to say right off the bat is how funny I thought the show was tonight. Not that I don't always think it's humorous, but I found it even funnier than normal so I must commend the writers — Co-Executive Producer Kevin Murphy and Producer Kevin Etten — for a hilarious script. There were so many great lines, but I think my favorite was Lynette to Tom after Tom told her he wasn't inviting her to the opening of his new restaurant because of her snarky attitude, which made Lynette say no to sex. Tom: "So we're not havin' sex?" Lynette: "Hey — you banned me from your opening." Shut up. To think that Lynette had to expose her breasts to that old man Harry (Richard Herd) just to get him to sign Tom's liquor license. What a wife won't do for her husband. Mrs. McCluskey was an excellent inspiration for Lynette so Kathryn Joosten was able to deliver one of the episode's many other zingers (re: Tom): "It's bad enough you cut off his cojones. Now you want to juggle them?" Good thing Lynette found out all the info that Tom was hiding from her from Andrew. It was nice for Lynette to convince Tom that he wasn't a loser just because she helped him out: "We are a team."

The team that I'm glad won't be a team anymore is Austin and Julie. Luckily, Julie found out calmly from Susan about Austin's secret relationship with slutty Danielle. Such a sweet, motherly way for Susan to preface it to her daughter: "I wish there was a pill you could take to protect your heart." What perfect timing it was earlier for Susan and Edie to walk in and discover Austin and Danielle cavorting on the couch, right after Edie told Susan that Austin loved Julie. Yeah right. Earlier, Nicollette Sheridan's best line was when Edie was told by Julie that "condoms are only 85% effective": "Is it true? Damn. I thought I could coast all the way to menopause." Later, the best line of Teri Hatcher's was when Susan was on the phone with the doctor that prescribed the sleeping pills to Julie and said that "Julie's mother" gave parental consent. Susan (after the doctor described Julie's mother as being blond and Susan saw Edie outside): "I don't have blond hair. Wait. Did my blond hair have dark roots?" It had been a while since we were treated to a Susan/Edie mean lady fest so the writers gave us some doozies. Susan to Edie: "You might've gotten your first diaphragm with milk money, but that doesn't give you the right to corrupt my daughter." That was followed by (in reference to Julie): "She's just a boob job away from being you." Please, please, please — I want Edie to be on this much every week! Are you with me here, people?

Not only was Edie involved with the Susan/Julie story line, she was also aggravating Bree by selling the Applewhite house to Alma. So we got a tad more tidbits, but only a tad, about Orson's past — Gloria Hodge had told Alma that Orson did something (we don’t know exactly what yet) to Monique and that Orson ran over Mike Delfino (we already knew that, but we didn't know anyone else knew). We also know that Alma's living across the street from Orson because she wants him back, even though Orson doesn't love her. She's not the woman she used to be: "I'm stronger and more confident." Obviously. Best Bree/Orson dialogue was Orson to Bree: "I will get Alma out of that house. I don't care if I have to live up to my reputation and strangle her." Bree: "Oh, you're a good husband." I like when mysterious things happen such as Bree finding the photo of Orson and Monique, along with a handful of someone's teeth. Monique's, can we assume? That Alma brilliantly taught her bird to say "Don't tell Bree" in front of Bree killed me. And how about Bree at the very end of the episode, with the teeth in her hand, calling and leaving a message for Orson to come home soon and then grabbing for her gun while looking out the window and seeing a smiling Alma wave to her? Was she wanting to shoot Alma or Orson? Oh, the mystery. What isn't a mystery is the way they are filming the pregnant Marcia Cross. Interesting how all the neighbors sit on their porches at night without a jacket, but Bree walks around during the day wearing that overcoat.
How many of you were surprised to find out Gabrielle's big spender-secret admirer was Zach Young? I was, even though I saw Cody Kasch's name in the opening credits as a guest star. But I thought Zach was going to be seen visiting Paul at the prison. Nope. Umm...can we talk about Zach's hair? I was thinking that maybe he'd been away because he was touring the country as the lead in Tarzan. We knew Gaby wasn't going to be attracted to Zach, but he sure did have a good comeback for her when she told him he was "way too young" for her: "I'm two months older than John Rowland." Only Gaby could come up with an even better comeback: "For God's sake, Zach. Don't hijack a Ferrari if you don't know how to drive." I loved that Carlos followed Gaby on her mystery date just to protect her and kept the offer open to always protect her when need be.

As for Paul Young, I was happy the prison guard told Mike about Paul paying the thugs to beat Mike up but making it look like Paul was protecting him. Hopefully this will jog Mike's memory and make him remember his past with Paul and that Paul's son Zach is actually Mike's son Zach. I agree with those of you who said that Mike without a memory = Mike without a personality, so I hope he gets his memory back soon and they play Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me."

If you haven't done so already, go here to read my colleague Matt Webb Mitovich's awesome interview with Dixie Carter. Among other things, you'll find out why Dixie's been M.I.A the last few episodes, but thankfully, she'll be back.

Question: Anything big in store for Andrew on Desperate Housewives?— Padraig
Ausiello: Not sure if this qualifies as big, but the little demon is going to return to his old ways when he suspects Orson of pushing Bree off a ladder. In related news, care to guess how producers plan to accommodate Marcia Cross' mandatory bed rest?

Brent - we knew he would, didn't we? A tiger doesn't change his spots.....

I've changed my opinions about several DH characters since the pilot. Gaby used to bore me, not anymore. Susan actually bores me at times now! I didn't like Andrew after a few episodes and his character seemed evil, not just your typical teenager defiance. But true evil. I wonder if he's going back to that now.

A few members on the IMDB boards wondered if there was a moment between Tom and Andrew, before Tom jumped in his car. I keep forgetting to watch that scene again but there must have been something there. And if so, ewwww! That would be just plain wrong, since he is a minor (I think, a bit confused on all the teenage characters' ages).

I really, really don't think Orson is bad. We have a lot of people still on this show that have done really bad things. Andrew ran over Carlos' mother, Gabbie let her mil lay in the street dying, Bree let the pharmacist die and Mike was a hired killer. YIKES we have a show full of killers!!!

When I say Orson help out Andrew when he was on the street and was so instrumental in bringing him home, I liked him immediately. I think he was totally in love with Monique and when he thought Mike killed her, he was overwelmed and let just say, temporarily insane.

Question: Can you give us some prattle on Desperate Housewives?— Mac
Ausiello: You probably already heard that Marc Cherry announced at press tour on Sunday that Nicollette Sheridan's role on the show is getting beefed up, partly to fill the void left by bedridden Marcia Cross, and partly because, well, it's about bloody time. What you may not have heard is that (Major spoiler alert) Edie's gonna make a play for Carlos, which makes complete sense given what Nicollette told me in our red-carpet Q&A: "There are going to be a lot of people who are very unhappy with Edie on Wisteria Lane."

:woo:

If Carlos and Gabby can't get back together, this is the next best thing. :D

Oh and I do not like Orson. If he hadn't run over Mike, then I would feel differently, but he did.

I'm wondering why Alma had Monique's teeth in her house on Sunday's episode, but earlier Orson didn't deny that he killed Monique to Alma(and how did she know that he ran over Mike? How would Gloria even know? Is he trying to get caught?!). That was odd. There's a lot of misdirection going on, but every episode Mike looks more and more innocent.
