How'd the new job day go, Steph?

Jeremy, a dog is a lot easier to care for than fish - ask me, bro, I know!
You have to keep the tank at a certain °F for certain fish, and, they eat certain
stuff, and, clean the tank, and........well, you feed and water and walk/pet the
dog, and, life is good! And, you can get the dog used to walking if you're in
a wheelchair as long as you demonstrate your dominance - the dog comes
to an understanding with you.

Now, Steph knows more about kitties than I do - I just let them crawl on
my shoulder and stretch when I'm at the vet's office, and, they don't even
seem to mind the "doggie" smell on me while I rub their head and ears while they
pur! LOL, bottom line - pets are fun and get you centered, buddy!

I'm still chattering about that game, even though we lost - GOOD GREIF! $7.00
for a BEER? Between the $50 tickets, $15 parking, brunch on 2nd Avenue
about $17.00/person, $7.00 beer per glass at the stadium...I'll take out a loan
at the bank, next time!!

Ya'll have a good night!

Jeremy - if I had to advise you about a pet, I'd suggest either a cat or dog. Something you can actually stroke and pet. You have no idea how calming that is, when you've had a rough day, you're upset and just need to relax. Our Golden is very intuitive when we're stressed out. In fact, she sighs on a regular basis, and instinctively knows the precise moment a sigh is needed. When our voices are raised or we're complaining about something - out comes a loud sigh from the dog. We all just crack up and then of course hug her. Because she just seems to ~understand~. I'm not knocking fish, but once you've had a pet you can actually touch, I don't know, but to me a fish just wouldn't be the same thing.

The shelters are filled with cats and dogs needing loving homes. Usually already fixed so you wouldn't have to worry about taking it to a Vet later on for spaying or neutering. They also usually have had their shots and that's a savings too.

I'm partial to big dogs now - they are so gentle usually. But if you'd perfer a pet that could climb into your lap, perhaps a smaller dog would be ideal for your situation.

To sum this up, you seem like the ideal candidate for a pet. Definitely. A win-win situation. You're a kind soul and could give a needy animal a very good home!

If I go with a dog, it will have to wait until I have more time to take care of it. Because next week, things get crazy for me...I will likely be working 4-6 days a week...and I can't say my folks would be able to take care of a pet themselves during the busy time at work. Still, I do think a loyal pet would go a long way toward my recovery.

#10 coal shovel.... Do you have a lot of visitors coming into Pinetop
for the holidays? If so, better catch every nap that you can!

We're doing Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, the 25th. So, Instead of putting my
Christmas decorations up, that day, I'll be putting them up on Thanksgiving!
2 days early this year, but, with the family's schedule, that'll work.

Here's a fresh batch of homemade chocolate-chip cookies - ya'll enjoy!

Tonight was the first night I saw Christmas lights on a house nearby. Once one neighbor starts this, they all follow suit.

And I already received one xmas card but it's from my goofy BIL. Last year, he sent his xmas cards out soon after Halloween. After we all got on his case about it, he must have waited as long as he could - until the week before Thanksgiving! Since he's coming for T-giving Day dinner, I might hang my xmas card quilt and display his, proudly (and I'll admit it, comically) in the #1 spot. LOL

This is the weekend we all tackle cobwebs, polishing silver, washing crystal, cleaning the oven, fridge, microwave, windows, etc. Real cleaning I mean. Next week is just touch up but tomorrow I'm going to be a cleaning nut around here.

Night all.

Amy, I hope things do settle down for you. I'll ask Santa if he can't get you a computer early for Christmas this year! :D If you have the time you can maybe go to the local library and get on for a while until you get your own comp. I hear ya on the cold!! It was 36º at the house this am.

Miss Mary, I am tired after reading your post. I'm gonna have to go take a nap before we get started on anything!!!  Actually we busted it this evening in what was my son's room. Since he got married last Saturday we now have a "guest room" which we have to get ready before Christmas when my Mom comes back for another visit.

AAAAANNNNNNDDDDDDDDD we are now planning another wedding!!!! My daughter got engaged last night!!! Looks like a September 15 wedding unless the church isn't available then. Wow 4 whole days of rest between weddings!!!  Well, I guess I need to get off to bed soon since we have beds to move tomorrow.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ALL!!!!

A guest room? What's that I ask? LOL!!! Good for you David. Well, my 16 yr old, former tomboy and pack rat that she is, thoroughly cleaned her room last weekend. I was out of town and her dad made sure she did it. So technically we did start already - LOL. Now I can see carpet in her room - yeah. But she did realize she hadn't pitched old school papers and whatnot since the 6th Grade. So we all tend to let things go. I wish I was more organized!!!!

I heard about a good housecleaning tip: each week, clean your house. All the rooms (dusting, vacuuming, pitching clutter). But clean one room as if you are Spring cleaning - cobwebs, under beds and furniture, windex windows, etc. Then begin a rotating schedule. Each week one of the rooms you normally clean, receives this extra cleaning. So you never have to spring clean again!

Sigh....wish I had implemented that idea long ago. I would only have the kitchen to clean well today.

I did start polishing the silver last night......what a smelly job!

One week away.... Yup, the official move to Biloxi area.... As of monday, yes this upcoming monday, I am property of the Hurricane Hunters!!! :D :D I really can't believe it myself! It's been a LONG wait! Black Friday is packing day... Saturday morning I'm off to the races. Being that it is Saturday, I shouldn't have any problems with Chicago or Indy traffic. It's a really easy trip... just follow I-65 out of Chicago all the way down to Mobile.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone :)

Pojo - I've traveled I 65 quite a bit, in and out of Chicago, down and back to Bowling Green, KY (where my daughter is in college). It's a nice drive.

Wishing you success!

Pojo...don't count your chickens. With it being Thanksgiving weekend, which is when a lot of sales happen, traffic may be a nightmare through the big cities...you're better off looping around them if you can.

I hope everyone has a nice day with family and friends! I'm about to hit the road, that old song 'on the road again' is already playing in my head! but i do love a road trip. This will be the 1st Thanksgiving without my Grandpa for he passed away this passed April.......he will be missed. It will be emotional but it will be a good day too. I am so very thankful for the family I have and so thankful for having my Grandpa in my life growing up. He was an awesome guy. He was my mom's dad and we were close. I spent alot of time with him and my Grandma growing up. I will always have those memories. :(

Amy, we are having our first thanksgiving without my parents in law who lived just a mile away for 35 years. It will be a tough one, but I am celebrating, as you are, the WONDERFUL WONDERFUL years we had with them all that they gave to us by just being themselves over those many years.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

I ditto that! Hope everyone had a good one! LOL, I was just reading the thread
"Have you started cooking yet....", and, mine actually starts tomorrow evening.
We're doing our family thanksgiving meal on Saturday - we decided last year
that having everyone rush around to parents', in-laws', fiancees' houses to
gorge several times in one day was not good. So, we moved our's to Saturday
evening, to accommodate and take some of the rush out of Thanksgiving Day.
Mama is cooking the turkey, dressing, and gravy, and, the rest of us are bringing
the sides. I only have to work four hours, tomorrow, so I can start my cooking
tomorrow evening.

I DID get my Christmas tree and decorations up, today, while I
watched the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade"! :cheesy:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone....

Getting my stuff ready for Mississippi... there is stuff all over my room and my moms house.

I need the prayer wheel going... my 18 year old cousin was rushed to the hospital yesterday because his pancreas stopped working... The docs have a good diagnosis of type 1 Diabetes... He's in the ICU right now. We found out just now that the docs had to get his kidneys working again (they shut down earlier today)... my step-dad is his godfather... so this is hitting him really hard.

To end this on a Great note.... I'm an Auntie again! Dylan Jacob Coulthurst was born tuesday afternoon to my sister.... yea.... he's in great health... they all came home today. 7lbs 9oz...19in long he's a cutie.... he has a lot of my sisters looks.
