Re: TV: Lost - Season 5!!!!
I have an assignment for you Lost fans...LOL
I know someone who's writing a college paper about someone who's a fan of Lost. Uh that would be me.....and she wanted to use one quote or something to suggest I am a Lost fan. And I said well Jack is my favorite character you know.....what would it be?
First thought I had was - live together or die alone.
Because that is THE Jack I follow.....LOL
Or hey, I could say - I believe in Jack!!!
Okay, sorry back to being serious.....my second thought was simple - Dude. But this paper is supposed to be about a relationship the college student has with a parent (and in this case it's a mom/daughter thing....LOL Dude just doesn't quite sound right....).
And now I've given you all something to laugh about today! You're welcome!!!!

Re: TV: Lost - Season 5!!!!
Uh Kelly, better put on a pot of coffee for this article - 4 pages long. I stumbled upon a link to it from a TV Guide blog......via a Star Wars website - of course!
http://www.starwars.com/community/news/ ... tml?page=1
Anyway, if pages 2 thru 4 are as good as page 1, it's a good read. You'll enjoy it.
Recap episode tonight was good, I'm glad I watched it. Pace was fast but it's kinda nice to go back before we get to back to 1977 - LOL! (now you know I'm a Lost geek....cause that makes sense! Only to us, only to us....he he)

My head hurts again. . . . especially after reading page 5 and yes, I know the supposed spoiler about next week's episode. .. .and I agree about the bookend comment, if the spoiler is true. . .

Interesting article/link I found on TV Guide. Apparently do not fast forward thru commercials during next week's episode? Creepy to say the least. And of course clever.

Re: TV: Lost - Season 5!!!!
I noticed the Star Wars resonance in some of the prior episodes, but Hurleys script writing explanation really brought it home LOL.
There was a Joseph Campbell series back in the 90's that explored some of the Jungian reflective nature of Star wars.
Lucas was influenced by Campbell's earlier works from the 40's.
Lucas had already written two drafts of Star Wars when he rediscovered Joseph Campbell's The Hero With a Thousand Faces in 1975 (having read it years before in college). This blueprint for "The Hero's Journey" gave Lucas the focus he needed to draw his sprawling imaginary universe into a single story.
I'm not sure I'm up to fully appreciating the sprawling universe of LOST. Too many scenes have been getting past my deaf ears lately.

Re: TV: Lost - Season 5!!!!
TV Guide picks their favorite characters and which episode was this character's best episode.....or something like that. LOL The thread title is misleading, I thought it was the Lost actors choosing their favorite episodes.....dang.

Spoiler alert, spoiler alert.........
Okay - just where are my Lost buds on the board?
LOL!!!!
One word - FARADAY!!!!
No, no, no......please, oh no.....come on Richard (who reminds us SO MUCH of Jeff Probst from Survivor.....he he) perform your magic on Daniel. Please, we love Daniel!!!!
Wow, so many of our Losties have had parent issues. Not just daddy issues by now......that wicked Mrs. Hocking. Hrrrrrrmmmmmppppphhhhhh! Don't like her, no way, no how, do not like this woman!
The would have been shocker - Whidmore is Faraday's father too - wasn't a shocker. Because in the back of my mind I wondered if Hocking and Whidmore had a history, she seemed so annoyed by him and he seemed rather impatient with her. I did start to wonder, what if, what if.......so this added bit of news - not a shock. Surprising.....
If there's one thing we have learned on this show? You can't trust what you ~think~ you know about a character! Or we cannot trust what we've been led to believe about a character either......

Re: TV: Lost - Season 5!!!!
Tonight's episode sets up the season finale next week.
That's right, in one week Season 5 will conclude.
And then we'll have a long wait for Season 6, the final season of Lost. I'm already sad just thinking about it. Over on the Sci-Fi channel they air Lost reruns at 4 pm Monday-Friday. They just aired the pilot, yesterday and today. Of course I watched it, yet again. Which makes my what, 5th viewing? LOL What you realize when you watch the pilot is how far the storylines have come. And we still don't have answers to early on questions. One came to mind while watching the pilot but I can't remember what it was now....LOL That's what Lost does to you - it makes you so confused but in a good way.
So much happened tonight, as always. One current theme is the power struggle going on between Locke and Ben. Their scenes remind me of past scenes between Ben and Hurley. Hurley always just managed to say things to Ben we'd like to say. Locke seems to be taking up this torch for the fans.
While Locke's never been my fave character, I just hope nothing bad happens to him.

Lost Season 5 Finale - tonight, Wednesday May 13!
8 - 9 pm - Recap, featuring flashbacks of Locke's 3 years off the island before his return, or I should say resurrection.....
9 - 11 pm - 2 hour finale
Spoilers ahead....

TV Guide Hot List (shows we're watching tonight column):

Lost
9 pm/ET ABC
Rub-a-dub-dub, Sawyer, Juliet and Kate in the sub. How long they'll be together in these cramped quarters is an open question, but it doesn't look good for Juliet. Or is it just a tease? Maybe we'll find out in tonight's two-hour season finale, but there are other (Other?), if not bigger, fish to fry, like: What'll newly minted "man of faith" Jack do if he gets his hands on the bomb? And, in 2007, what'll newly minted "man of reason" Locke do if he gets his hands on Jacob? — Paul Droesch

Oops, one more, Doc's article from Entertainment Weekly, always, always worth the read. Note - it's 5 pages long.......so pour yourself another cup of coffee before settling in......LOL Uh, that would mean you Kelly, unless of course you've read this......he he

Re: TV: Lost - Season 5!!!!
things that are probably good to keep in mind, while watching tonight:
Doc Jensen and Dan Snierson Interview Damon and Carlton
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1550...8408_5,00.html
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A four-part chat with Damon and Carlton. Not a lot of surprises in terms of incident, but some surprises, to me at least, in terms of interpretation.
Here are paraphrases of some of Darlton's comments that made me re-examine a few of my own conclusions and expectations:
Darlton says that the overriding issue of Season 5 is,"Did this always happen or are we watching these events happen for the first time?"They want everyone to be asking this question, throughout the season and in the finale -- it is this season's "What's in the hatch?" question, though on a more "meta" level. They use the question, "Did Ben always get shot?" as an example.
Just how much does Ben remember about the Losties who were embedded in Dharma? Does he really not remember them or is he pretending? This is an intentional ambiguity.
Also, how much does he actually know about the island? More on this next year.
Jack's acceptance of what he interprets as his "destiny" to carry out Faraday's plan is a kind of denial and "cheat" on his part, because he is "accepting a destiny to erase the fact that he has a destiny."
A related point -- up to this point, the prevailing theory on TT has been a "close-ended time loop" -- but has Hawking pushed her son academically in the hope that he will find a way out of the loop and escape death at her hands?
Sawyer and Juliet are in love and have a mature relationship that has stood the test of time. They contrast this with the chemistry and passion that characterized Sawyer's relationship with Kate.

Just for Brent:
Is it a coincidence that another J.J. Abrams show (Fringe) is now embracing the concept of an alternate universe in which "preferred" elements can be moved around like chess pieces?

Did anyone watch that? I couldn't believe the shot of the World Trade Center at the end.
