Steve, could this possibly be another ELF attack? I seem to recall someone in the area on the news, clearly saying that the fires were deliberately set...

Bill....The ELF are clearly alive and well in southern California. The last major ELF fire was near the 52 and 805...an area that today was burned as well.

One never knows what to think but all possibilities exist at the moment.

Thanks for your thoughts Bill....

Steve - of course I'll pray. Just started praying as soon as I began reading this. I was away from the computer just about all weekend. 1/2 mile away is too close! What a terrible situation. Hope they can bring it under control.

Steve and Kathy,

For all the times you have lifted up my family in our time of need in prayer...my family will now lift up Jason, Deb and Emma...May God place a protective covering over them and their home as well as their neighbors and those who are on the front line fighting the fire.

We'll also keep you and Kathy covered, as parents it cannot be easy for you either.

Take good care my friend, rest as easy as you can and be assured that God has your loved ones in His protection and Grace

God Bless, Raine

Here I am, in the thick of all this and I am wondering what is the ELF? :? Anyway, you bet I have your family covered in prayer Steve, as I do everyone else in harm's way tonight.

Josh........"ELF" is the most radical bunch of environmentalists that ever walked the earth, they're the ones who torch HumV dealerships, burn multi million homes in environmentally sensitve areas, you name, they DO IT!

Steve, I have no words to express my grief at the moment for you son and family. Saw on the 0430 news just a second ago the damage and caos these fires are causing. The Monday Night Football has been moved to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, the Chargers and Dolphins, admission is free! Flights at Sky Harbor are backed up/delayed for HOURS into Calif.

A total of 13 people have now been killed in these infernos, over 800 homes lost......My God, I can't believe the destruction happening. Every Hot Shot Unit from Az has been activated and shipped to S. Calif. The Fort Apache Hot Shots along with Black Mesa, Heber, Mormon Lake will be shipped out today. The Pinetop Fire Depts Type 3 Brush Engine was dispatched at 2200 last night, Lakeside, Show Low Type 3 are expected to be dispatched as early as 0600 this morning!

My sister in law is stuck in Julian.....she didn't leave in time, all major arteries are now closed in Southern Calif.

Steve, like I said, we will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I too can't even begin to fathom what Jason, Deb and Emma are going thru right now Steve. I'm praying big time! What a tragedy out there in CA. Just shocking.

Well wishes, good thoughts and tons of prayers going up from OH.

Early morning report. While I have not talked with them this morning, they did go back to the neighborhood and their home late yesterday. A few other neighbors returned.

Reports this morning are that the fire is still active in many areas but of course the winds are currently not so fierce. That could change as the morning progresses.

I expect to get a call from them in about an hour...

Steve - please keep us updated! I imagine you and Kathy just want to go get Emma right now. I'd be tempted to make the drive, just so they wouldn't have to worry about their baby......but then traffic is probably awful.

Still praying, more than ever!

Hey Steve,

I am glad your family is OK so far. My brother-in-law is a San Diego firefigher and last I heard he was fighting the Scripps Ranch fire. He lives in El Cajon and his wife and kids are at home right now. There is fire all around them, but so far they are safe. It's scary to have loved ones right in the middle of all this, so let's keep praying. I plan to call his wife later this afternoon when it's a little bit later in the day there, I'll keep everyone updated too. God Bless, Marie

It appears my sister in law is fixing to lose her house to one of the many fires in SoCal........the fire at last report, 1/2 hour ago, was only 3/4 mile from her house in Julian, she reported flame lengths over 100 feet! Flame lengths that long will pre heat the fuels and ground up to 200 YARDS in front of it making for a very explosive situation. The fire near Julian is burning upslope, the worst case scenario!

Optimism is guarded this afternoon for my son's home in Scripps Ranch. It seems that the major construction in the fields to the east of him were, in fact, what spared him the brunt of the fire on Sunday. Ridges and valleys had been cleared of vegetation weeks ago...so there was no fuel source. Adjacent to that cleared area, homes were lost.

On another note...this morning I was at the ER with my other son who had chest pain and shortness of breath....has been checked out for any major heart issues, and because his father (me) was so generous as to give him my reflux issues, first inclination is he may have stricture from the esophagus. He's home and resting at the moment....but will see a specialist next week. His plan is to get some rest this afternoon so he can play in his softball game at 8:30 tonight.

I wonder if he would be so dedicated were it necessary to report to work at 8:30 tonight instead of play....

We shall see...

Steve
